Murl's Kitchen — Restaurant in Boston

Murl's is an amazing Jamaican restaurant (as a Jamaican, I don't say that lightly)! I've eaten several items from their menu and they all are outstanding - the jerk chicken, oxtail, curry chicken, sauteed salmon, and especially the mac & cheese! The portions are always big, the price is reasonable (especially for the amount of food you get) and the staff is great. Last summer (2020) Murl's catered my wedding and it was truly one of the best decisions we made in the entire wedding planning process. The pricing on their catering menu (available if you email them) is extremely reasonable. The guests at our wedding (many who are Jamaican) constantly talk about how difficult it is to find Jamaican restaurants where the food is just how you hope/expect it to be. Murl's was the exact opposite - they exceeded everyone's expectations and even guests who typically do not like mac & cheese cleared the mac & cheese dish! To this day, when we talk about our wedding, Murl's is one of the first things we talk about. They were on time, extremely responsive, and easy to work with. The only thing I had to do was make my order request, put a deposit down, and pay the rest 3 days before my wedding - the rest was in their hands and it was amazing. This was my first and last time ordering from here. I love food and will pay for great food... Now, I paid $18.20 for a medium plate that was supposed to come with plantains and I asked for steamed cabbage and this is what I got!!! Where are my plantains? Where is the steamed veggies? Why do I have chicken back and all small pieces of meat I paid $18 for??? Make it make sense! Instead of charging me when the order was incomplete, they could've given me a heads up and said they didn't have enough to make a medium plate and I woulda canceled and ordered elsewhere and got my money's worth! They notified me when they didnt have the jerk pork. So y not lmk u didn't have what u needed to make a medium plate or sides that comes with plate? This ain't what I paid for! Unprofessional! I called numerous times and they finally but say nothing! You can hear the wind in the background and rain because it's raining. They knew they sent me whatever because they were closing. Y'all see what i ordered and what I got. Horrible! I could've spent my money elsewhere and with better customer service. I hate wasting money and especially going to new places... Oh! And Ubereats won't refund me even knowing they took my money and didn't send me what I paid for! Never again will I order...

The service I experienced today was extremely disappointing. I come here because I like the food but customer service is non-existent at this establishment. I tried calling to make an order for pick up as I’ve done in the past to only be told I have to come in the store or make an online order because they only accept phone orders for seafood. I make my online order for jerk chicken 4 minutes after getting off the phone, then I received a call 18 minutes later that there is no more jerk chicken after I was told there was. I opted to choose curry chicken. When I picked up my order, an employee tells me there was actually a jerk chicken plate set aside for my order and that she will switch it. When i got home, I saw she never switched the plate which was even more disappointing. I called the store to see what could be done and there was no mention of compensation for being given the wrong order. The overall attitude was “Oh Well”.
