I regret having to write such a negative review, but after patronizing the cafe since it opened (and usually being a generous tipper), I'm finally fed up with the manager and don't plan on going back. Like many people, I go to the cafe to do work. Of course I buy something to drink and/or eat. The last three times I've been there I've been glared at by the manager, and no, I haven't been loud or otherwise disruptive. I also haven't been there for more than an hour before it starts.
I've also noticed that while this manager swoops in like a hawk when she sees someone bring in outside food, she's selective about who she'll single out. (FYI, I've never brought in outside food.) African-American teens shouldn't even try, but white grandmothers have pretty good odds of finishing their contraband food.
Message received: I will not be bringing my writing group there (Panera or the nearby Barnes and Noble cafe can have our business), and if I'm desperate for something to drink or eat at the library I'll go to the Map Room Cafe on the other side of the building. Shame, but I'm tired of paying for...
Read moreIt's a decent café to stop by at when you want a quick bite. I got a large hot chocolate with a slice of their blueberry lemon loaf. The hot chocolate was nice; it tasted like actual mocha sauce and milk and none of that powdered stuff. Sadly, I was told they don't do anything with whipped cream so it wasn't an option as a topping. The bread, though, I will say was on the dry and stiff side. It tasted amazing but these breads to all sit in the display case and then are served once ordered. I feel like it would have tasted better if it was warmed up but they didn't ask me if I wanted it as such, so I'm assuming they just don't have that as an option.
I will say, two items for about $10 is a bit much and their large cup doesn't feel like a large, but I could be wrong. Maybe it's just their portion sizes. Their stuff tastes good, they have plenty of options, and you get to sit right in front of where they give news...
Read moreThe prices are too high to really get anything to eat in my opinion. I had a hot Cocoa and a Swiss roll. Cost me 5 bucks but it was worth it. I enjoyed the topic on housing issues in the Latino's/Spanish/Hispanic Community. I enjoyed seeing Jorge Quiroga in person speaking and interviewing on live TV people from the community About the hardships of the Latino/Spanish/Hispanic Individuals and families having a hard time buying a house in Massachusetts. They came up with some interesting ideas on how to solve the problem for everybody in Massachusetts not just their community. I recommend you stop by the Copley library unexpectedly to see what you find out interesting that's happening at the...
