I visited Atlantic Fish this evening for a business meeting and, unfortunately, my experience was far from what I expected from such an esteemed establishment. Upon arrival, I ordered a spicy mezcal cocktail, clearly specifying my preference for some heat. However, what I received was not just spicy but downright lip-numbing and mouth-burning to the point of being undrinkable. To make matters worse, the ginger ale that accompanied it was served warm, despite our request for room temperature water and a side of ice.
After enduring ten minutes of discomfort with an empty glass and a burning mouth, our server finally returned to the table. When I politely mentioned that the cocktail was unpleasantly spicy and the ginger ale was warm, I was met with a dismissive attitude. The server’s response of “you ordered it spicy” felt more like a reprimand than a resolution. While I understand I asked for a spicy drink, there’s a difference between enjoyable heat and something that’s simply overwhelming. Unfortunately, this encounter set the tone for the rest of the evening.
Throughout the night, we were met with snarky comments and an overall attitude that made us feel anything but welcome. This was particularly disappointing as my client, who has been a loyal patron of Atlantic Fish Company for 20 years, had never experienced such poor customer service. We had planned to continue our evening with more food and drinks, but the rushed and disrespectful service left us with no desire to stay. When we inquired about coffee, the curt response of “we close at 11” at 10:25 felt like another push out the door.
For a restaurant that is often praised as a fine dining destination, the evening felt far removed from what one would expect at this price point. Instead of a relaxed and enjoyable business dinner, we were left with a sour taste, both literally and figuratively.
Perhaps it was because we came dressed casually, or maybe because we were two women there for a meeting, but I have never felt so unwelcome in an establishment of this caliber. It’s disheartening to have been treated with such disregard, especially at a place that prides itself on offering an elevated dining experience. This was a missed opportunity for what should have been an enjoyable evening, and it’s truly...
Read moreSo worth the drive from NH! We came here on a Saturday lunch reservation but ran terribly late due to traffic (barely 3 miles away!) and then 25 minutes of musical chairs underground the Boston Commons. Despite all of that and more, the hostess Marianna was very understanding and found us a small booth 🙏 her kindness began our 1st experience at the Atlantic Fish Company.
André was our server. His attentive service and energetic candor made for a spectacular evening! I especially appreciated his detailed knowledge of the food ingredients and impeccable timing on checking up on our table. Our water glasses and prosecco were never empty or waiting.
We ordered 2 appetizers; the tuna tartare and crispy calamari Milano. The tartare was my favorite, very subtle, and soft flavor of horseradish and wasabi. My partner enjoyed the extremely light batter of the calamari; the hot peppers add a nice zing!
For entrees, we had the Halibut with spinach & mushrooms, and the Chilean Sea bass. The sea bass had the fish taste I was craving for! The Halibut was cooked to perfection and is a hefty portion, I couldn't finish it. Speaking of which, the 2 sides are VERY generous portions as well. My taste buds say YES, but my stomach capacity pleaded Nooo.
However, there is always room for dessert; we had cappucinos with the Special of the Day Bread Pudding, and a creme brulee. The bread pudding comes with vanilla ice cream, tasted like an autumn pie ☺️ and I loved how fresh the fat blueberries were on top of the smooth creme brulee!
The only disappointment was the limoncello; theirs was a creamy type instead of it being light and bright.
Side note: The inner front door is in dire need of lubrication... that shrieking squeaking dissonance absolutely ruins the atmosphere. It seemed frivolous at first, but upon talking to the Manager (turquoise tie), he apologized and acknowledged the issue. I appreciated his temporary solution of keeping the door open. With the popularity and value of this establishment, I would hope that the Owner resolves that with the proper tools ASAP. I was tempted to pick up a silicone WD40 and apply it for...
Read moreI recently dined at Atlantic Fish Boston and I cannot stop raving about my experience! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The interior was beautifully decorated with nautical accents, creating a cozy and inviting ambiance.
Let's talk about the food - it was out of this world! The menu offered a wide variety of fresh seafood options, and being a seafood lover, this was a dream come true for me. The oysters were incredibly fresh and flavorful, and the lobster bisque was rich and creamy – a true taste of New England. The entrees were equally impressive, with the salmon cooked to perfection and the scallops so tender they simply melted in my mouth.
But what truly set Atlantic Fish Boston apart was their attention to detail and top-notch service. The staff was knowledgeable, attentive, and truly went above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. They provided excellent recommendations, answered all my questions about the menu, and even accommodated my dietary restrictions without hesitation.
I also appreciated the impeccable presentation of each dish. Not only were they a feast for the taste buds, but they were visually stunning as well. The chef's dedication to using only the freshest ingredients was evident in every bite. It was clear that every dish was prepared with care and passion.
The wine selection at Atlantic Fish Boston was also impressive, with a variety of options that perfectly complemented the seafood dishes. The sommelier was helpful in guiding me towards the perfect wine to enhance my meal.
In summary, Atlantic Fish Boston is a hidden gem in the heart of the city. The combination of exceptional food, outstanding service, and a warm and welcoming ambiance make it a must-visit for seafood lovers. Whether you are a local or just visiting Boston, do not miss the opportunity to indulge in a dining experience that is truly unforgettable. I cannot wait to return and explore more of their menu.
My husband and I shared the Haddock and clam chowder, the fish was light and...
