This is a wonderful park in Charlestown right along the water in part of what used to be the Boston Navy Yard, where ships were built for World War II. Now it has been refurbished with boardwalks along the water and a fabulous playground with a special squishy soft surface that is easy to walk on and would cushion any falls that a child or anyone else might have. The park is right across the street from the Spaulding Rehab Hospital and the parking for the park is also right in front of the rehab hospital. The only negative thing about the park is that there are not very many parking places. The playground has all sorts of creative slides and swings and Teeter Totters and Jungle Jims. There are benches to sit on, as well, and those fixed binoculars to look across the river that one usually has to pay a quarter for or a dollar, but these were free. If your walk all the way around the back of the rehab hospital there are stations for people either in wheelchairs or short people or for taller people to exercise their arms or do other exercises. All of the children and adults had their masks on; even though that is the governor's order, I felt pleasantly surprised and grateful that folks were complying. Here are devices that you usually cannot find in other playgrounds, like rotating benches, swinging big flat-bottom iron baskets, fixed musical-instrument toys (iron xylophone, drums, pipe bells, though the 8 pipes have only 4 tones) in the 3D maze.
