Usually it's tough to leave a 1 star review. This is an easy one, and in my mind for all the right reasons. I came at about 3:45 pm for a coffee and something to eat. The posted closing time is 5:00 pm.
All of the pastry cases and other indications that they were serving any food were already prepped for closing. So I just ordered a coffee. The default tip amount was 30% the order total, to pour a coffee. So I left no tip. Next I sat down and tried to charge my phone. The outlets have been disabled. Ok, no problem, I had enough power for the 20 mins or so I planned to stay, and it's not their responsibility to charge my phone. Fair enough. By this point I'm more than unimpressed but not every place is wonderful. 5 minutes later the employees start putting up the chairs around me, literally on either side of me, as if closing the seating area. So I threw out my coffee and walked the 2 mins down the road to the Starbucks I had bypassed to go to Cafe Amalfi in the first place. As I said, this one is easy. When a business tells me in no uncertain terms that they'd rather not be open, I'm more than happy to oblige.
My experience was like a winning bingo card of my cafe pet peeves. There are many great cafes within a 5 - 10 minute walk, the city doesn't need this one. Read the lowest reviews as I just did (after leaving my own, not before). You'll see a lot of...
Read moreWe spent 5 days in Boston. We got our morning coffee and breakfast here 4 of those days. Mostly because it opens at 7am but also because the food choices were vast, and everything was fresh made and very tasty. They also have a few sugar-free flavor options for the coffee which I prefer. The egg wrap was hearty and very filling. I had that 2 days and it was my only meal until dinner each time. I also had the avacado toast and even though it's size was small compared to the giant egg wrap, it to kept me pretty full all day. They also have several delicious-looking freak pastries and breads/cakes but I didn't give in to try any. It's a very convenient location for the north end, and the area was never really...
Read moreCafé Amalfi is a fantastic spot with a cozy atmosphere and great service. I stopped by for breakfast and had their breakfast sandwich which was absolutely delicious! The ingredients were fresh, the bread was perfectly toasted packing a bunch of flavor, and bringing everything together beautifully. I also tried the chocolate croissant, which was decent but nothing special compared to everything else they offer. The iced salted caramel cold brew was great, and the cold foam on top was awesome, smooth, flavorful, and just the right touch of sweetness. Overall, a wonderful experience, and I’ll definitely be back to try more...
