This will be a lengthy review, so please bear with me. I think it’s important to add every detail possible in this experience.
My family and I have purchased cakes on several occasions from Spinelli’s. We loved their cakes and were loyal customers.
For my daughter’s third birthday, I decided to order a number 3 cake. I called the week of Thanksgiving to make sure that they were able to fulfill this request. The lady on the phone said they could. I decided to order the day before, as we usually do. I have never had an issue and didn’t think that making a cake in the number shape would be an issue. Had the first lady told me, I would have ordered right then and there.
Fast forward, I spoke with a very nice woman about ordering the 3 cake, and was informed that I needed to call a week in advance. The first lady I spoke to never told me this. I was bummed. We finally decided to order a cake covered with blue, pink, purple rosettes. My husband picks the cake up, brings it home, and we open the box. First off, our daughter’s name was spelt incorrectly. Second, it looked like someone rushed the cake decorating. It looked bad, definitely not the quality we were used to from Spinelli’s. Thirdly, the cake was not covered in rosettes like we had ordered. There was only a border. My husband took the cake back and the cake decorator was incredibly rude. He was complaining about having to fix it and that he didn’t have all day to cater to our needs. My husband said a few words and the man disappeared to the back, never showing his face again.
I get in touch with someone because I want to complain about the experience we’ve had. Eventually, we are connected with a woman by name of Celeste. She apologizes and offers a gift card for our troubles. We never expected anything from this. We just wanted the man to be removed from his position, because he doesn’t need to serve the public with such a nasty attitude. The fact that Spinelli’s allows this behavior is very telling about their practices. We were told that they have received various complaints, yet they continue to allow him to interact with the public in this capacity.
To date, we have not received the gift card. We called to let Celeste know, as she gave us her private extension. No response. I am extremely disappointed and saddened that we chose to give Spinelli’s our business. We will no...
Read moreI nearly had to sue them for my botched wedding cake. They messed up my cake TWICE. I asked for a cake with a long gold bow and ombre rosettes from pink to red. The day before my wedding I went to pick up the cake and the colors were pink, red and brown. I showed them the photos and the woman who helped me went over everything and said they would fix it and deliver it the next day.
My wedding day comes and they drop of my cake without a cake box. The colors are now pink, blue and purple. Where did those colors come from?? My long gold bow was also much shorter. I called immediately and was told that something would be worked out. I spoke with them soon after and they offer me $85 on a nearly $300 cake! I tried to compromise and ask for half of the money back. They said no because we had eaten it. It was my wedding day! What was I supposed to do? They were firm on only refunding me $85. So I let them know, through certified mail, that I would be pursing this in small claims court and that by law I would be entitled to the entire cost of the cake plus extra. That's when I finally heard from them. They offered me another $70. The same total amount that I had proposed 5 months earlier as a compromise! And yes, it took nearly 5 months to resolve this!
I was a very loyal customer up until that point. I had been going there for over 6 years at that time. I would drive all the way from Roxbury to get their pastries and I always ordered cakes from them. I also recommended them to everyone. However, on the phone it was clear that they just wanted to give me some money to go away and didn't care for my return business. I swore they wouldn't get another dime out of me after that awful experience. Stay away from businesses like this that don't value you as a customer and provide terrible customer service.

Read moreI came by yesterday around 3:40pm to buy some cold cuts. The girl that took care of me seem like she was new because she didn’t know how to use the cutter nor put prices on my items and seemed to forget what I had order because I came home to see that she gave me wrong amount of the cold cuts I had asked for, she did asked for help to Amanda(that is a other girl that seemed she knew what she was doing and also she was the one that was ringing but she was not busy at all) well Amanda didn’t try to help and just kept looking at me and ignoring that they need it her assistant also Magali I think her is she had braids and glasses I seen her walking and not trying to see if the other girl need it help after waiting for for about 10 min I said to the girl I had to go and I said so Amanda and Magali could help her but nothing. They also gave me my cold cuts from the deli when I said I wanted fresh and she ignore me the whole store was empty they maybe got one or two people that came in but nothing extreme. I have come in the morning and is been busier and Jennifer has helpful and has been the most wonderful and respectful, she gives the best service ever. I been coming to spinellis for over 20+years and have never had bad service or bunch young girls that don’t try to work or help out.
