I was very hungry, and I was on Forest Hills I gave this restaurant a chance. It's located in an area with some restaurants next to each other, but today was the day to have some Indian food. When I first entered in, a waiter attended me and took me to my table. I sat down and he took me a glass of water, no more words, so I realised that there was a buffet lunch. He didn't ask me for it this was my option or not, nor showing me the beers or wines menu. I asked for the beverages menu and he gave it to me fast, they had some Indian and local beers, so I asked for a pint of Indian beer. The buffet menu looked pretty good, with a lot of different dishes to try: Chicken Vindaloo, Mixed vegetables curry, Tandoori chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Palak Paneer, Banggan Bharttha, Naan,Basmati Rice and Badami Kheer for dessert. For the price it was a very good deal, everything was good but not top-notch. I really missed spice on the food, it was pretty mild in my opinion, I think the mildest Indian restaurant I've ever been too. Everything was tasty, tender and yummy, but I missed hot Indian-like food. Nevertheless to say, the dessert was average and the service was average, I'd give 4 stars, but I expected a better service and more spicy food.

Walked by this place all the time and never thought to try Indian food in general. However, I came here soon after I tried Indian food for the first time a few months ago. I was sort of thrown aback by how small the dining room is compared to other restaurants up and down that same street, which tend to go way deeper into the restaurant. Regardless of space, I was ready to enjoy the food! I had to start off with a mango lassi, as is customary anytime I eat at an Indian establishment. It was really tasty, refreshing, and worth the price. I say this in appreciation of how the restaurant doesn't stuff the drink full of ice so you're getting a fraction of your actual beverage, it was ALL lassi. I went with a classic, butter chicken. It was juicy and flavorful. The sauce was lovely to pour all over my rice. My wife ordered the goat curry and she was enamored. The goat was the least bit gamey and extremely tender. I was excited that this place was so delicious however, I am kicking myself knowing I could have walked in plenty of times. I will continue to visit whenever I am craving lassi, naan, and hopefully a new favorite from their menu!

Since their name is Tikki Masala (which is not an Indian dish, BTW), we decided to try Chicken TIKKA Masala and Aloo TIKKI Chaat. Aloo Tikkis - 1* Chana - 2.5* Aloo tikkis were dry and flavorless. Channa was decent. When you order chaat, be it samosa chaat or aloo tikkis chaat, you crumble them and add things on top. All they did was throw in 2 blobs of Tikki and topped with channa, onion & big chunks of tomatoes 😂 No chutneys whatsoever. I had to add my green & red chutneys, sev to make it taste better. Deep brand frozen aloo tikkis are miles better than this. Chicken - 1* Tikka masala - 3* Again, chicken was dry and flavorless. It's usually char grilled, this looked oven baked (I might be wrong). Tikka masala was probably the one thing that was good. Before ordering the food, I wanted to try so many of their dishes. Now, I'm not sure if I should.

I love Tikka Masala's food but after experiencing the truly horrendous customer service I did on New Year's Day, I will not be returning. A housemate and I placed an order through their website to be picked up at 6pm. We placed that order at 4:45 pm and I arrived at the restaurant around 5:45 pm. When I arrived, I was told by the woman at the front desk that my order was not yet ready. She left around 6pm and the next employee asked me what order I was waiting for. I told him and another 15 minutes passed. A third employee came and told me that my order was supposed to be delivered instead of picked up at 6pm (this was a lie). I reached out to my housemate who forwarded me the receipt which stated the order was for pick-up and put her on the phone with the employee. After another 15 minutes, he eventually told me that he did not even have my order and would need to remake the order then. After another 15 minutes, an older man (the owner, I believe) asked me where I placed the order. I told him that I placed it through their website and he said he never received it and would need to call the company that handles that ordering. I waited 1 hour for my food, was told by 3 different employees that my food was either being prepared, needed more time, or was already delivered to my house all to find out that they had never received the order in the first place. I understand that technological snags happen sometime but once I learned that my order wasn't even in the system, I had already wasted 45 minutes thinking that it was just slow to prepare. After telling the owner that I wanted either the meal to be complimentary after what I had gone through or a discount given that I had waited an hour and that the issue was something on their end, he took the food back to the kitchen and threatened me, saying "Do you want the food or not?" I told him what I wanted (a discount, refund, something!) and he replied back "No. I am not going to do that." I told him to give me my food since I paid for it and told him that I would never be coming back, to which he shouted "Okay! Great!" I ended up taking the food, paying full price for it, waiting for over an hour, was lied to by multiple employees, and being shouted out of the restaurant by the owner.

Let this be a warning to anyone and everyone who places an order, something that you did not do goes wrong, and the owner is there to threaten to take the food you already paid for and waited for over an...

Okay. Here we go. I'm generally embarrassed leaving a negative review, especially, for a restaurant I have known, loved, and rooted for since pre covid when businesses were struggling due to Forest Hills construction. However, the other night I was treating visiting family members to what is currently billed online as "The Best Indian food in JP." It makes me uncomfortable to be that guy that goes through their entire takeout order in the restaurant to make sure I have everything I paid for. But sure enough, every time I don't, I get home and find out items are missing. I make a call to Tikla Masala who despite the fact that I just gave them a 67 dollar order with a ten dollar tip for takeout and tell them I'm missing an order of Garlic Naan. They tell me I'm mistaken and that I have miscounted my order. Thus, I don't know the difference between one and two pieces of bread. Frustrated, I take the 20 minute walk down there again in 35 degree weather. When I get there, I tell the cashier that I have managed restaurants for 20 years and that the least they could do to compensate me for my time and their error would be offer, at the very least, an additional piece of Naan, he told me that that wasn't his call to make and their was no one available to make that happen. Hospitality is the only thing that distinguishes you from the competition. RESTAURANTS DON'T DIE OVERNIGHT. THEY DIE ONE DAY AT A TIME. Tikka Masala used to be...
