When Woody's won Best of Boston for pizza from Boston Magazine a few years back, the regulars were shocked. Not that we disagreed, but we just had no idea that no one knew about our little neighborhood joint. But the write-up got it right -- calling it Boston's real Cheers. Almost everyone is a regular, and the staff and owners all feel like a family. The tap list always has a handful of quality fresh local beers and the wood-fired pizza is a hybrid of real neapolitan pizza in italy and the american california style. I have never been more pleasantly surprised in my life. We ordered the steak and cheese sub which was fantastic. The steak was not gritty and they clearly did not skimp on the cheese. It was so hard to chew and all the cheese was solidified on top due to being in the oven for too long. Whoever was manning the oven should never have sent this pizza out.
