Hotel facility is reasonable for a Four Seasons (inside), though definitely designed to cater to a business client. There is no outdoor space anywhere for guests.
We are neighbors, and the hotel management has been about as obnoxious to the neighborhood as possible. The hotel continues to be under a lot of construction (July 2020)- construction vehicles consistently parked in resident parking spaces and illegally in areas which create danger to local residents, as they block a stop on Clearview St.
Most recently, the hotel decided that the grassy area across from the hotel, which they are PART owner of, is suddenly off limits to dogs. Not sure what their residents do with their dogs, as there is no grass anywhere around. They actually had the audacity to demand we get off the grass when they don't own the entire property.
When they opened, we put up guests at the hotel, visited the restaurant and spa several times, and gave them chances to work through the kinks. We found a team that was under trained and largely off-putting in their service approach.
You may wish to know that the Mandarin Hotel has a far superior location, service, and the spa is actually run like a spa, not a "wellness floor", which seems to be a way of excusing sub-par service. If you're considering being a resident here, you should also evaluate the wind tunnel which blows full force around this building, most of the time (especially unpleasant in winter).
There are many nice places to stay in Boston. Our guests will stay elsewhere once we start to have visitors again (post Covid). If you decide to stay, watch out for ongoing construction, including the entry road, which is torn up...
Read moremy wife and I have stayed at a several FS properties and it has definitely become our go to. the service in general is second to none and we love the unique character of each location. this weekend we decided to stay at the original Boston location, but booked the Spa at One Dalton- the Spa itself was great- but the doormen need to be trained on hospitality; when my wife and I arrived, the doorman assumed i was an uber, there to pick someone up, which is absolutely not the greeting that we expected- nothing about our vehicle or presence should have suggested that we were rideshare drivers.
the spa experience was great and deserves its own review. it was absolutely phenomenal and Jackie was the most knowledgeable and professional technician I’ve had work on me.
after going back down to retrieve our vehicle, a different doorman said ‘you must’ve came for lunch, how was it?’ this shouldn’t have been anything offensive- but truly came off as he expected that could be the only reason we were there - maybe it was just that this was after being mistaken for an uber. the people involved in retrieving our vehicle also certainly did not live up to the standards that have been set by other FS properties. when the attendant was stepping out of my vehicle, i thanked him as I reached out for my key and he acted annoyed, said nothing, and walked away. as we drive off, back to the original FS Boston- we both saw the same thing, and we aren’t generally people who expect to be treated like we’re special- but it seems like the team the greets guests at One Dalton has some lessons to learn from the team at the location...
Read moreI just wrapped a 3-night stay at this property and I found it disappointing and frustrating to be honest. I fell in love with the Four Seasons brand after staying at the Las Vegas property in January. I have spent the last few months talking about how great FS hotels are and have been planning more stays in different locations this year. So naturally for my anniversary weekend with my husband, I wanted to stay at Four Seasons and we picked this location and Boston as a place to visit.
All in all, I am so underwhelmed with the hotel. The rooms seem much more dated than I expected and are smaller than they appear online. The beds were also quite firm (even though they added a thin pillow top cover). This was very different than the beds at the Four Seasons in Las Vegas, where it felt like sleeping on a cloud. And was my primary reason for wanting to stay at Four Seasons again for a little R&R my anniversay weekend.
Additionally, the air conditioning/ventilation system had a constant humming sound that was hard to ignore especially at night. I had to sleep with air pods.
The spa in the hotel also does not offer manicure or pedicure services which I found weird and quite inconvenient.
I will say that the staff and service was great, but I would expect this at any 5-star hotel.
All in all, I would not stay at this hotel again or at least not at $1000+/per night.
This experience has given me some pause about so eagerly booking Four Seasons during my travels, because now I am aware of how truly inconsistent the different locations can be. Hard,...
