They do not respect the Black customer and the quality of food has severely diminished. Poor money has made them rich. I ordered a standard dish of beef fried rice, chicken wings and ribs and it was horrible. The chicken was overcooked and unflavored, the ribs tasted like candied meat (since the sauce was high fructose corn syrup) and the rice barely had any beef or flavor. I tried to speak to the woman who was taking orders but she disrespected me and told me to throw out the food. I did so and walked out because i didn't want to be labeled a loud black woman. I saw an Asian C-11 Officer across the street. I asked him to mediate the situation because the food was bad. He came in and the woman said i was eating for 15-20 minutes when i just got the food and it hadnt been 3 minutes when i brought it back. I was forced to take the food out of the trash to prove my point and when the cop saw the food, he then wanted to harass me for the few bites i took out of the chicken wing. It was then i told him i had to taste the food in order to come to the conclusion it wasn't the usual quality i am used to. The cop told me i couldn't request my money back but i demanded my refund back. She didn't give me my full value the first or second time and yelled at me that "you want everything". I used to eat at this location every now and then but now I know Yuen B.B.Q. doesn't value the African American customer but they do value our money. She thought that she could give me food made any type of way and that I should accept it. I refuse to eat food that was prepared horribly.
They are located in a predominate community of color and I have never even seen Yuen B.B.Q give back to the African American/ Black community. They will never get my Black money again!
At the end of the day this situation proved more about people in the position of power when they have ownership, how you will be treated by some police, especially when the similarity between the officer and the business owner was their highly similar racial/ geographical location...
Read moreAfter a good recommendation, and a few, months of ordering from here, I found the food to be very good. Ordered last night 7/9/19 and was disappointed for the 1st time, the chicken fingers had way too much batter and didn't taste good at all, also the beef teriyaki, which was awesome b4 last night's order were burnt and not as thick as usual. I never buy the fried shrimp bc the 1st time I did, it was almost all batter and very little pieces of shrimp, definitely not worth the price. Even the Pork Lo Mein was different and not very good. I called to ask why, maybe they had a new cook etc. Was told they had the same cook and couldn't offer a satisfactory explanation for the lack of quality previously present in their food, so I told her that I would give them my review of my latest order, she didn't seem to care. I'm done paying good money for inferior qualify food, thank goodness I have a car to go for better quality food. 5/2/2021 UPDATE: My friend recommended Yuen B B Q and said that they had the best food near Field's Corner, lately they have gotten better than usual but always were better than any other local Chinese food restaurant and he was right. Although I love shrimp and usually ask for $2 more in the Lo Mein and $3 more in the Lobster sauce with shrimp. Once I also ordered Pork Egg foo Young and only got 2 patties with the sauce on the side but today I got 3 patties with the brown gravy already on it. I can't understand why almost every other place gives fortune cookies, but I have to ask for them. All in all, they are getting better and are definitely better than every other restaurant that I have ordered from. I'm disabled and depend on delivery. I'm from Southie and still miss Ocean Kai, which was terrific but I am glad that my friend who also moved here from Southie told me of the best places to order. I give this place 4 stars but would give it 5 stars if I didn't have to ask for extra shrimp or fortune...
Read moreThey do not speak good English and because of that they run a really stupid pickup system.
1/ I was sick. I called to order. In the end I told them my friend will pick up. I even wrote my order down for my friend to show them. They did not allow my friend to pick up. I was sick, it was call and they made me get out to pick up!!! 2/ I called, I told the lady my order. She even asked me "with pork fried rice right?" Then she hung up. I got to their place. A man asked me what I want. I told him I order on the phone already. The lady then told me "I asked you to wait why you hang up? I don't know what you want".I did tell her exactly what I want and that is what I always get from them. And she even confirmed "with fried rice". The man and the lady did not show any respect to my time. The man just asked "Do you want it, only 10 to 15 minutes" without apologize for making me wait. I was really hungry. I was really busy studying for my exam. I made my way all the way to and I got nothing to eat.
I will NEVER go back to this place and you should not come if you don't want...
