I think I am pretty good when it comes to resisting temptation. Except when the temptation happens to be BBQ, then all bets are off. Temptation whispered its siren song of seduction into my ears the other day (or should I say nostrils), when I happened to drive by Moe's Original BBQ in Williams Square on 30th and Baseline in Boulder. I told the young man behind the counter of my temptation dilemma and he told me that he could help me out. Not to avoid it, but offered me some suggestions as to how I could satiate it. So, I had the brisket sandwich, potato salad, and their slaw. It came out in short order and was absolutely delicious. The brisket was smoked to perfection, the potato salad was the best I have ever tasted, and the slaw was a bit tangy, but not overdone. I also was tempted by their pulled pork and smoked chicken platters (yes, I came back, because... BBQ), and though I tried, I was led rather willingly down the road to BBQ perdition. The staff was very helpful in giving me their recommendations as to what they liked on the menu which helped me make up my mind, and it was their courteous demeanor that assured my repeat business. Yes, the food is delicious. But the attitude of the employees are what make or break your business, the the staff of Moe's was one of the main reasons they will continue to get my business. So if you are ever in the mood for some seriously good BBQ, then Moe's Original BBQ in Williams Square on 30th and Baseline in Boulder should be the first place you stop. They do BBQ right....

This trip was not a success for Moes or customers. Food was over priced to the value of the products we received. Portions were so skimpy that a family of 4 went away disappointed at $70, and that was without ordering drinks.
Most BBQ in this category prices around $48 to $58 for 4 people and the food is ample with enough leftovers for a snack later.
Quality: Food was not to temp, chilly, and served like some one crapped out BBQ on a plate. Definitely need to work on temperature control and presentation.
Cleanliness: I didnt find a clean table table in the restaurant...and we tried to find one. Suggestion, Start a regular cleaning schedule and stick to it whether slow or busy times occur.
Service: Good service takes more than a smile at the door. Attitude is everything to happy customers. If you smile taking an order, be sure you show you care about your customer through all steps in your designated process. Slopping food down on a table and grumbly asking if there's anything else you need sets a negative mood. Suggestion, work on being inviting, kinder, friendly and grateful.
I will be back to see if there are improvements. Everyone deserves the chance to improve on a bad day at the restaurant. 2 stars is temporary. Until I have eaten 3x at this restaurant, scores may improve.
All the best to you in your BBQ journey.

Read moreThis makes me truely depressed that it was this bad that I felt compelled to write a review. First off I understand Boulders sugar tax($0.02 per gram) and understand that I might have to pay for a drink. I'm fine with that, but $2.20 is still pretty steep going from included in the meal to sperate. (Yes, I've managed similar places and know the prices.) Not to mention they make their teas, so they're excluded from this tax. On top of this I get my to-go order in and buy a drink. Turns out that they're a part of a grass-root movement to remove straws and plastic lids. That's cool, but tell me before I buy the drink with my to-go order or at least give me the lid since that's not even part of the grass-root movement (it's just the staws). It's hard driving with an open container and dangerous. Final when a customer ask for something don't just say "oh yah" and walk away brushing them off. I ordered a turkey sandwich with no bama sauce. No surprise here. It had bama sauce on it, but they "remade it". Turns out they gave me a pork sandwich with bama sauce on it. Seemed old to because it was as dry as dirt and I just ended up throwing it out. While I can't say this was the worst I ever had, it was the up there.I've loved this place for years and it's been great comfort food for me, but after...
