Read moreWe'd been in here for coffee a couple of days ago and remarked on how nice the smorrebrød or open-faced sandwiches looked, piled high with arugula, and decided to go back. Today, as I placed my order for the egg salad sandwich and a drink, my friend inquired about the avocado toast and got a rundown on how it was served. "And of course it comes with greens on top, right?" she said, remembering how it had looked before. "We ran out," said the woman at the counter. No apology, no offer to perhaps comp our drinks to make up for it. My friend ended up running across the street to Sweetgreen to get a bowl of arugula, but that was only the first problem.
When the (TINY) sandwiches arrived, the egg salad was barely seasoned, my friend's avocado was a paste instead of sliced, fresh avocado and tasted like it had been sitting there forever. Worse still, the dried-out bread was not even toasted, and felt like it had just been taken out of a sliced package in the fridge. The lack of greens, which we had to buy ourselves to make this seem like a full meal, made the entire experience egregious. Never again.
EDIT in response to owner: even "crushed: avocado would taste like real avocado, not like it was scooped out of a tub. And I know what Danish open-faced sandwiches are. I also know what dark European-style bread is, having lived in Germany for close to a decade. I'm not ignorant of these things; your product is just bad. Oh and my name's not Gina, but glad to see you take as much care responding as you do in...
Read moreI've lived in Boulder my whole life, and I cannot say enough good things about this cozy cottage coffee shop. From the moment you step inside, you’re welcomed not just as a customer, but as apart of something truly special. The atmosphere is warm, intentional, and full of heart. Just take a look around at all of the hand selected goods that they carry, and the local art in the shop. Everything is done with intention here. If you get the chance to meet the barista's and owners, you're in for a treat. Andrea, the insanely talented chef and owner, is a powerhouse of creativity, sass, and kindness. She brings a soulful, magnetic energy to the space that makes you feel like you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be--and if you're on this patio, you really are. Conversations with her always leave me reignited with my own spark.
And let’s talk about the pastries—OH MY GOD. They are hands-down the best in Boulder (and honestly, some of the best I’ve had anywhere). Her family's shortbreads are unlike anything you've ever had, and when I say you can taste the love, you really can. And if you can get your hands on a Chai olive oil cake before they sell out, you better go for it.
This isn’t just a coffee shop—it’s a full-on experience, and one that should be at the top of your list not just when visiting Boulder, but when...
