Organic? Is it really that much different? Absolutely! All plants grow from the ground, all animals graze on the land, I have a garden in my backyard, isn’t that as natural and organic as it can get? No way! Marcy @organicsandwich in Boulder says that organic food production goes back to our roots. She explains that organics is based on a system of farming that not only maintains and replenishes soil fertility but does so without the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and fertilizers. This concept is much like how our bodies recycle and replenish. Everything at The Organic Sandwich Shop is 💯 organic, sourced locally and made fresh daily. Vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options available! Now this is how you sandwich! 🥪 When it comes to commitment to organics and our planet 🌎 Marcy has implemented some pretty awesome practices from sourcing organic food free of chemicals, pesticides, gmo’s, antibiotics & hormones, working with local businesses & farmers, using recyclable & compostable materials, energy & water conservation, and educating & serving the community all while sticking to sustainable business practices, supporting local and giving back. We appreciate the transparency and dedication to crafting beautiful soups, sandwich’s and salads with the cleanest, organic ingredients possible! Special thanks for the creation of this incredible space where all non-sandwich and sandwich lovers unite and to Marcy’s awesome team for their hospitality and knowledge of every single...
Read moreThey put butter on my vegan sandwich!
Reply to the response from the owner: I think you must have me confused with another customer that was almost given butter on their vegan sandwich, as this is definitely not the incident I'm referring to.
I ordered one of the vegan sandwiches and asked for it to be toasted. One of the ladies at the counter made the vegan sandwich and proceeded to slap a wad of butter on it before toasting it. When I objected, she was completely unconcerned and said she does it all the time. She did not apologise. Luckily the guy at the counter could understand the issue and threw out the sandwich (which was a waste as I'm sure it could have been given to someone else), and made me a replacement.
On different occasions, I observed several instances where staff would handle meat and dairy products and then not change gloves before making vegan sandwiches.
There was also one instance where a soup was listed on the board as vegan despite having cheese in it.
Maybe a 1 star rating was a bit harsh - I think that when made properly the food is actually quite tasty (or maybe it was all that butter that I didn't realise was on my sandwiches?!) - but I think your staff need further training on dietary restrictions and food...
Read moreI used to order from this place online a lot. Only recently a few weeks ago, I decided to go into their location. It was riddled with flies. Flies all over the ingredients, it was messy and unclean. I was excited to show my mom this place when she came to visit and it was totally unappetizing to see at least 10 or more flies touching all the food and landing on us. This place was always a bit overpriced but being overpriced + unclean = major no! Never going again! There is a level of expectation for sanitation of an eating establishment you pay for. Even if it's a cold day and there won't be flies, the fact that there was even one day where the place was THAT filthy to culminate that number of flies permanently turned me off. I heavily considered calling the health department on this place afterward, and couldn't finish my sandwich. As someone who had worked in food service, it was clear that the staff had no regard for food safety and sanitation. Huge shame, as the sandwiches are delicious. The 1 stars are exclusively for food and ingredient quality.
