We had heard nothing but incredible things about Mahoneys and made it a point to make a trip here. Our appetizers came a bit slow and were a little cold, but because of how busy it was, it was understandable. We waited over 30 minutes for our food, and asked for the check for what we had ordered. After another 10 minutes, our food was brought to us cold. We said again that we had already asked for the check and because the food was cold (steak and pork) that we wouldn’t be taking it. After asking for the check again, the manager approached and said “so what do you want? You want me to reheat it? I explained again the situation and she walked away, and then had the waitress bring the bill including the food we didn’t have. I asked for the owner, and the same woman approached and said “You wanted the owner? That’s me, I’m Mahoney!” I said to her that we had heard such great things and were disappointed in how things were handled, to which she replied “oh? Because your potato salad was cold? Yup, Yup, Yup”, actually ripped my credit card out of my hand, and walked away.
After reading through the great reviews, our experience shows that the food and wait staff are what makes Mahoneys great. It is the lack of professionalism and pride in service from management that is a detriment. This was a situation that could have been so easily rectified and we would have returned to try again, but the unbelievable disrespect shown by the manager exemplifies how easily an establishment with great food and atmosphere can be ruined by incompetence, apathy, and a blatant disregard for...
Read moreCool place. Kind of an industrial, steam punk vibe and decor. Open kitchen. Big bar. Brick lined room with high ceilings and big window wall in the front with a view of the train bridge. The menu is clearly Asian inspired with some elevated pub grub standards thrown in, and it's executed flawlessly by the visible chef , sous, and line cook. We started with lobster rangoon and littlenecks on the half. For dinner, I had a nice pan seared salmon with a carrot ginger puree on Japanese rice and baby bok choy. My wife enjoyed her Asian Steak on stir fry veggies and rice with her Thai pesto on the side. Skip the house made potato chips, however, as you won't stop. We took a double order home. Great service at the bar and the other staff looked like they enjoyed working there. Nice scene. Reasonably priced, especially for the Cape. We shall return,...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped here on our way back to the Cape. We had been in once before but just for drinks. We grabbed a high top table by the kitchen where you can see the the cooks and prep staff. We really didn’t pay attention to the kitchen until we were almost finished eating. What we saw was unacceptable! From no gloves, to on cell phones, to moving raw chicken bare hands and then placing finished orders on plates. The final blow was to see one of the cooks lick not one, not Two, but FOUR fingers and then rearrange food on an outgoing plate. I just got done listening to my wife throw up in the bathroom.
This occurred on Friday, August 6 at approximately 9:30pm so that Management can identify those that were putting peoples health at risk.
By the way our server Ryan...
