One star is one star too many. This place is absolutely PATHETIC. It used to be Ruby Tuesday, but now it's IHOP. You ever go to a place, walk in the door, and a little voice in your head says, "this will not bode well"? By now, I should know to listen to that voice. But heck, we (group of 4) stayed. It took about 4-5 minutes for us to be seated. It was about 11am and the restaurant was not crowded. We get seated in the rear of the restaurant. It took another 5 minutes for our server, Nayaliha (sp) to come over, greet us, and take our initial drink order. We ordered sweet tea, hot tea, and 2 coffees. I think she had to walk to Costa Rica to harvest the coffee beans and tea leaves. It took 10-15 minutes for our drinks to be delivered. Meanwhile, I could see Nayaliha, standing in the back of the restaurant, seemingly playing on her cell phone.
Once our drinks are delivered, we place our orders: waffle combo, poblano omlette and 2 orders of the 2+2+2. So, we've been there 30 minutes and all we have to show for it is drinks. The manager is walking around, never stopped to check on us. Other servers are busling back and forth with their orders. Nataliya is doing... whatever. She was a very nice lady, but had no server skills. We asked 2 times about the time it was taking to get our order. Each time, we were assured, "it's coming right out." Needless to say, when she brought the waffles and 2+2+2s out and they were cold. I still hadn't received my order. Nayaliha asked if we wanted to return the cold food. I said, "it took 30 minutes to get this...why would we wait another 30 minutes for more cold food?" I asked to speak to the manager. Between the 8 minutes is took the manager to come over, my order is delivered. The omlette was warm, the toast and hash browns were cold. I brought it to the managers attention, she offered to remake the toast. She had the nerve to say the orders were fine, delivered in a timely manner. When told about the wait time, she simply nodded her head.
It's IHOP, NOTHING should take 30 minutes to cook, nor should the food be cold. The manager was cheap enough to take 10% off of our bill...I'll put it towards the kids college fund. Long story short...BYPASS, PASS ON BY, DO NOT FREQUENT the IHOP on Excalibur Drive and 301 in Bowie, MD. You'd be better off with food and...
Read moreThis was my first time at this new IHOP in Bowie. The place is attractive and clean. There's enough space between tables to provide privacy. Our waitress was excellent, friendly, and always made sure we were pleased and had what we needed.
My friend has eggs and beef tips. He was very pleased with his meal. I ordered scrambled eggs with bacon and hash browns or so I thought. The server came back and asked me if I wanted it as a bowl or burrito. What! I was tired of looking at the menu so I offhandedly said burrito, not knowing hash browns were already in the burrito, and the side of hash browns would be the size of a huge double brick!
If youre in the mood for a burrito I guess it would be good. I was disappointed. It was bland. I used hot sauce to flavor it up, but it didn't help. Later on I asked "Can I have a box! I want to save this...For my dog."
The menu is heavily Southwester influenced with peppers, onions, salsa, and etc.
The senior menu is very limited but the do offer a senior discount. I'm offended that they didn't ask me for proof that I'm a senior (LOL).
The place was nice. The service was excellent. I prefer more ala carte options, rather than just combo platter choices. They didn't have items like corned beef hash, pork roll, scrapple, creamed chip beef, biscuits and gravy or their trademark variety of syrups which usually entice me to order pancakes.
The place is good and if I was making a decision solely based on cleanliness and service, I'd choose this place.
If I was deciding on a place based on the menu, I'd go somewhere else. The quality is good, it is just not to my liking.
I like pork roll, scrapple, corned beef hash, cream chipped beef, feta cheese...
Read moreMy family and I were in town visiting family and on our way out we went to have breakfast at this location. Let me start by saying that we understand restaurants being understaffed because of COVID, but it is not an excuse for bad behavior. We arrived and were told the wait would be 20 minutes and it turned to an hour. We were seated, ordered, ate (the food was okay), and the check was brought out. The men paid the check at the front (which included a wait as well as the cashier was not there, then she didn’t know how to work the register) and we all proceeded outside. As we were in the parking lot giving each other out farewell greetings a manager, who we later learned is named Chelsea, approached us(without greeting) and rudely asked us if we paid our bill. Our group advised her that we did. She continued her aggression and advised that we did not and asked her for our receipt. We showed it to her and she took a picture and proceeded inside. No apology.
We went back inside and asked for the manager, we learned that she was one. Taylor, the young woman who rang us up, confirmed payment. Our waitress Courtney was also present. Chelsea proceeded out of the kitchen with her arms folded. We explained our issue with the way that she approached us, the lack of professionalism, and that she never issued an apology for the error. Chelsea then said that she does not know what else we want. I have been going to IHOP since I was a child and have never been so humiliated. She did this in a parking lot full of people. We were extremely embarrassed at the allegation that we would ever do that and the shame that we felt in the presence of others is...
