CK & Lounge — Restaurant in Bowie

First time here, and I honestly disliked the establishment, and I had high hopes.

The food and liquor were lackluster. My friend has dietary restrictions to which they claimed to cater to, but in reality, they didn't. We both ended up with food poisoning the next day. We did notice improper hygiene when staff prepared our food.

The service was not the best. Staff serving us were rude and took forever to give us our drinks. We should not have waited as long as we did for our food as well.

The atmosphere was basic, and the smell of the place was off-putting. We're used to top-notch city lounges, and with a few exceptions, the place looked like someone made a trip to the Dollar Tree and Party City and decorated. Not all the lights were working, the bathrooms were disgusting, and some of the guests were creepy. The DJ might have been the only thing going for this place. But then again, what do expect from a lounge located at a strip mall?

There's an odor that we thought might have been mold or mildew. Mix that with sweat/body heat, and it's a wrap. 30 minutes in, we wanted to leave, but again, we wanted to be fair and give this place a chance.

During our time here and the more we mingled with regulars, we were surprised to hear how sketchy the lounge is - and the guests who are okay with it. Here's what we learned:

The liquor is hit/miss, and they don't don't even purchase the alcohol directly from distributors as they're supposed to.

Staff aren't getting paid, and some of them complain to guests or complain amongst themselves.

-There are employees who aren't employed the legal way; there's staff with no papers.

The vetting system here is appalling; underage drinking is a problem here especially especially...

I originally planned to give this lounge 5 stars, but unfortunately I can't. Upon entering my friend and I thought the ambiance was amazing (5 stars). We were greeted by the owner who was very nice and welcoming. He explained the menu and went into great detail about his signature cocktails. The food and drinks were great! Here is why I can't give it 5stars. Upon checking out we didn't see him, so we asked another server to cash us out. He politely did by using one of those hand held machines. Once outside, two of the waitresses came running outside and told the security guard we didn't pay. We were confused as there was another couple coming out. They accused us of not paying and my friend said that's a lie and showed the over $200 receipt. I was highly offended. The ladies said the owner sent them out. This little hidden Urban Afro-Lounge nugget is a total experience. Open Tuesday-Sunday! Tuesday is $2.00 Margaritas, Wednesday is Karaoke, Thursday is Amapiano Nite, Friday is Ladies Nite with a DJ & Sax player, Saturday & Sunday have DJs. They are open from 4pm-12am Tuesday-Thursday & Friday-Saturday 4pm-2am , Sunday also 4-12am. They also have Happy Hour Tuesday-Friday from 4pm-7:30pm. It is beautifully done and comfortable lounge. Music is on point along with service and drinks! The menu don’t cover all the option of drinks they supply. So don’t be afraid to go off the menu and order something else. The staff and management is extremely accommodating, they also hold private events and parties whatever your needs are. Just a note: if you plan on coming a Friday or Saturday I would call and reserve a space because they do get packed. They offer bottle service with the most affordable bottle options.
