Sam's Gyros is a hidden gem tucked into an average looking strip mall in Bowling Green, KY. My big regret about Sam's is that though I've spent months in Bowling Green, I hadn't tried Sam's until last week. Well, after my first visit, it's safe to say I've found one of my new Bowling Green Staples!
Because of its nondescript location, it can be easy to overlook Sam's as just another restaurant in a sea of restaurants in a bustling College Town. However you'll find that it's often recommended both online and by locals as one of the ideal spots for a Mediterranean lunch.
The menu is refreshingly simple, and offers most (if not all) of the entrees for less than $10. The ingredients are basic, but pack a punch where they're needed the most, taste and value. As a dining experience, it's no-frills, and honestly that's not at all a bad thing.
Keto/ Low Carb Folks: I'd recommend going for a Chicken or Beef Greek Salad (It's even advertised as 0 carbs!). While there can certainly be some sneaky carbs in this dish, it easily fits what you're looking for in a Keto Meal.
Overall, if you're looking for quick, high-value, low-cost, simple and tasty Mediterranean meal in BG, you owe it to yourself to give Sam's...
Read moreEVERY table was sticky and had a weird film on it. Got charged for a soda when I got water from the soda machine. My lamb meat was ice cold, even though I saw him take it out of his “warmer”, I guess it’s just for looks? Cucumbers were like, bad. They were limp and wobbly and see-through and slimy and didn’t taste like a cucumber. Olives were SO salty I had to pick through my food to get them out cause I couldn’t stand the taste. They must have been bad too cause I eat olives on almost everything (everything I can, I just love them!). Onions tasted rotten too, they were also see-through even though they were raw. Will NEVER go back there. Been looking for a good gyro place to go to, used to go to A Taste of Europe all the time but since they’re no longer on State street, I haven’t been able to indulge my gyro fix. Sams is most definitely NOT the place to go to. Place needs to be inspected, I bet it won’t pass... Oh, and our bill was like $23 when we both just got a gyro and drink, two people. I got water but was charged for soda. How is it possible a $6 (or so) plate for two people adds up to $23? I wasn’t paying attention to what he rang up, and didn’t think at the time to bring it up. I should...
Read moreAfter my very first visit here I've just had mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, food was very tasty and I liked it (had a Chicken Gyros Sandwich). But on the other hand, I'm kinda disappointed with the service. The guy, while preparing my sandwich, was constantly talking with someone on his cell over earplugs. And in the meantime, still while talking to somebody, he was asking me questions what I want on my sandwich, etc. That was actually kinda weird. 😖🤨 I didn't know if you was taking to me and asking, or just talking to the other person on the phone. Frankly, I found it impolite. And that's it. Overall food was good and maybe will be back here again (and hope next time they will pay more attention to the customer, not to the cell phone) to try something different, since it's European cuisine, which is in my blood and always be my...
