We were so excited to eat here, but unfortunately were terribly disappointed in the food and the service. The egg rolls were really good and my lemon ginger tea was perfect, but the drunken noodles I ordered - at a spicy level of 1 (lowest) out of 10 - were so hot that I had to give up eating them after three bites. I have traveled all over the world and am not a lightweight on spicy food, but I definitely prefer to taste the distinct flavors in a new dish, which is why I asked for the lowest level on their scale. My husband's rice dish was also a level one and it was not at all spicy. When I asked our server if she could take my noodles back and bring me something less spicy, she accused me of arguing with her, telling me that she told me their food was spicy and that I should have ordered a zero instead of a one. I asked her to please ask her manager if I could get a replacement dish, and she came back a few minutes later to tell me that they could make me another drunken noodles plate with zero spice but I would have to pay 50% of the price for it, plus the full price of the dish I couldn't eat. I think they messed up on my order and refused to take responsibility for it. We're so disappointed! We feel that our situation was handled very badly, both from a food standpoint and a customer service standpoint. If the server had been kind, and if the management had taken responsibility, the outcome would have been completely different, and we would have been able to recommend this place....
Read moreSo far always (but once) were the ordered items correct. Once the cashier didn't understand English enough to request the pineapple fried rice without egg (and meat, to make it vegan) and we had to call in and got a replacement (I've mentioned without egg 5 times because the cashier didn't seem to understand what I wanted. I had said all dishes vegan, all without egg and meat, and mentioned all separately too... We had 2 more dishes and those were correct without egg). We got replacement plus salad (though replacement was too spicy for me...). The chef in the kitchen and most other cashiers already know us and know that we order 2 of the same dishes and a third new one we didn't try yet and thus always ask what can be veganized. The chef will help the cashiers understand what's inside the dishes (good knowledge for other customers with allergies too) and the chef is a very nice and loving lady. I wish the third/new dishes we ordered were as good as our staple two (fried rice pineapple and entree cashew), but somehow the taste wasn't for us oftentimes. Only new non-egg noddle dish was tasty enough to become our additional stable(Drunken Noodle), but nevertheless we'll come back and at some point ask the chef to help us write down what can be veganized to promote it on HappyCow and other review and...
Read moreLoved this unsuspecting Thai place in downtown Bowling Green! We had steamed dumplings, pad Thai, house fried rice, and the drunken noodles.
Pros: The whole restaurant is a vibe. The atmosphere, decor, smells, etc. provide an immersive experience. Feels very intimate and would make a great date night. The food was very flavorful. Servers were friendly. The beef in my drunken noodles was delish - the chicken not so much.
Cons: We all ordered a spice level 3 and all of the dishes varied in the amount of spice. I love spicy food and regularly eat it, but even the 3 was almost a bit much. My lips were burning! Unless I missed a second entrance, the main entrance is barely wheelchair accessible. The small wooden ramp is maybe 30" wide. I don't know how wide wheelchairs are, but it didn't look like one could fit in it to go up. Service was quite slow. The garlic shrimp were very overcooked and they were really hard to peel.
Overall, great little Thai place. I will be back but will order a spice level 2 next time. The Tom Yum and garlic edamame looked so good. The line was out the door when we were leaving so best to get there earlier in...
