This was our first time at Wild Eggs in Bowling Green, and unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype. When we arrived, the place was busy, which we expected and had no problem waiting. We noticed the outdoor seating area and decided to sit out there and chat while we waited for a table. About 15 minutes in, a waitress came out and told us we weren’t allowed to sit there, even though no one was using the space. I explained we were just waiting for a table and suggested we be added to the outdoor seating list, but she said we’d still have to wait separately. No one sat outside the entire time we waited, ate, and left. That left a weird first impression.
Once seated, I asked about mimosas, only to be told they don’t serve alcohol at this location due to being close to a school. Fair enough, but it would’ve been helpful if that info was posted somewhere, especially since other locations do. I ordered a coffee instead. Later, I overheard our server telling another table about specialty coffee drinks and food specials, none of which were mentioned to us.
I got Kalamity Katie’s Border Benedict, and my wife got the Strawberry Tall Cakes. The food came out quickly and looked amazing, like magazine-cover quality. But unfortunately, mine was cold, light on chorizo, and had a strange sweet flavor that didn’t match the listed ingredients. I barely touched it.
The bigger issue came when my wife found onions in her pancakes, twice. Obviously, that shouldn’t happen. The server brought over the manager, who personally apologized and comped her meal, which we appreciated. But there was no real explanation or follow-up on how that even happened.
Even with one meal taken off the check, it still came out to over $30 with tip. That’d be fine if the food and service matched the price, but in our case, it just didn’t.
There were a lot of staff working the floor, so it was confusing why the outdoor seating was off-limits and why service felt so uneven. We left feeling disappointe, not angry, just kind of over it.
Not sure we’d return. Great presentation, friendly enough staff, but too many misses to justify a...
Read moreWhen I travel I like to try and eat where locals eat and avoid chain restaurants. On this trip I found myself in Bowling Green KY I googled places to eat breakfast and Wild Eggs popped up with a very high rating. Actually I was had at the name of your place. Found it in a strip mall walked in and found a bright clean dining room with lots of people seated at the many tables. I could tell by the crowd that I had found a place that matched criteria as everyone appeared to be locals.
We were acknowledged quickly by a young man and we were seated quickly. The person who sat us was very pleasant. Shortly after being seat our server came over and introduced herself to us. Caroline was warm and welcoming. She took our drink order with a smile. She gave us plenty of time to make our selections as she could tell that we were not locals and did not know your menu by heart. With our orders submitted I had the Ace of a BLT and my friend had the build your own omelet. The food arrived in a timely manner. The presentation on both plates was very well done. I really enjoyed the Ace of an BLT. The sour dough bread was perfectly toasted. My egg was cooked as ordered and the bacon still had some life left in it. So many places way over cook their bacon that one bite and it shatters like glass. I really enjoyed my sandwich. If I had any complaints it would have been the avocado. Not that it made the sandwich taste bad. It made my sandwich to become slippery inside messy causing things to fall out of the sandwich like the egg. I finally gave up and finished with my fork. Next time I will hold the avocado. Grits were well made and perfectly seasoned. Caroline took all of out late additions in stride with a smile and promptly fulfilled.
The best compliment I can pay a place is would I return and would I recommend it to others. The answer to both question is yes. The next time I am in Bowling Green I will be back and I would recommend this...
Read moreI brought a friend from Mississippi in to eat today (5/2/21). We first came in awhile back, and we got the egg salad sandwiches and home-made potato chips. He loved the egg salad, and I loved the chips. The next time he visited, we came in and ordered the same thing. We were told they no longer made the chips, but my friend was happy to be able to get his egg salad. He’s back this weekend, and guess what? We went in and there’s no more egg salad. We weren’t happy, but it IS just egg salad and potato chips. We will live. So the server suggested another breakfast sandwich. In the menu it sounded good, so we ordered it. Then the server asked what kind of bread we wanted for the sandwiches. When we said that the menu said it came on a Brioche bun, she told us they were out of that bread. We’d already expressed our disappointment over the other stuff, so I’m not sure why a person would make a suggestion that wasn’t available, but...
As other reviews state, the food is good but pricey, and the wait is long, both to get in and to get your food once seated. We have decided that it’s not worth it to go there again. One suggestion I do have for the place is to cut down on the number of people working the front desk. There were four and sometimes five there at a time. That way you could place more servers on the floor or put more people in the kitchen, so as to cut down...
