When you have a craving for good old American food, yet want nutrition, no Canola, no high fructose, and only the freshest, best ingredients, at really affordable prices--The Diner in Boynton Beach at Gateway, is far and away the place to go.

We drove 13 miles for brunch because it's so rare to be able to trust the oils and sweeteners in restaurant food--especially American diners. But, trust we do at The Diner, and I didn't even mention the ridiculously generous portions.

We had an avocado eggs Benedict with 3 poached eggs, poached to perfection, grilled tomatoes and home fries. So delicious and the Popeye omelet with ham and Swiss and your choice of toast. These were both excellent, and again, so generous.

The coffee too is a surprising quality for American diner fare. The servers, although hopping busy, never failed to fill our cups.

Kudos to Michael for making sure even the smallest details are excellent--like where can you find a restaurant that buys organic ketchup with NO high fructose. Answer: so far we have never seen this except at this amazing diner. Thanks so much or not caving in to conformity and and big food industry pressure, and really caring about people and especially children. I've see moms try to get kids to eat by piling high fructose condiments onto their food. Chilling. Please choose The Diner, where the only chills will be from the delightful menu, great ingredients, huge portions and...

So this is a tough review. I’ll start with the pros. Food portions are great if you have a huge appetite or appreciate some take home. The food is hit or miss when it comes to flavor but all-in-all most dishes I’ve had were decent. Most of the servers and the gentleman who appears to be manager and/or owner were friendly.

Now the other side of the coin. 1st, their sanitary efforts on the front end were, well, gross. Our table was offered to us as if a floor mop was just slapped across it. Our waitress showed aggravation when I asked for some napkins to soak up the bucket of water on the table and seats. She gave us 2 napkins. Under the booth there were tons of food scraps that were probably from the last 3 diners. I’ve learned that if the front end of the restaurant is lax in sanitation, the back of house isn’t going to be any better.

Our waitress was the oldest of the servers and was the least pleasant of the others I watched until she presented the bill. She smiled through gritted teeth and was simply not a good server. Who knows, maybe she was just having a bad day, we’ve all had those.

In the end, this place could be a jewel for some diners but I personally will explore more of the many options in PBC. They’re always busy so they must be doing something right. I just don’t do well with a filthy seating and a...

This diner is located in a great spot with plenty of parking and both indoor/outdoor seating. We were asked to sit wherever we wanted right away upon entering so we picked a nice two seater by the window so we could look outside and inside. Our server Eric greeted us right away so we told him two coffees, waters, and a chicken with rice soup to start. He brought all of that along with extra coffee creamers. He continued to top off both our coffees and waters throughout our whole meal so he provided excellent service our entire stay.

The chicken rice soup was home made from scratch so it was an excellent start. My girl had a veggie omelet and I had the same with sausage plus ham added in. We had home fries/roasted potatoes on the side with wheat toast dry. The food was delicious and I give them props for having organic Heinz ketchup on every table which I've never seen at any venue I've ever been so that was a huge added bonus! Eric was the best with his warm, hospitable, attentive, and exceptional service which most places are lacking these days.

The menu has a good selection of both breakfast and lunch so we're looking forward to trying other items. You simply can't go wrong with this place and we will definitely be...

Been on my list for a while and finally made it here. Love the open kitchen design that lends itself to keeping things pretty tidy. From the extensive menu, my wife ordered the red velvet waffles and I ordered the Greek omelet (tomato, feta spinach) with ham and mushrooms and multigrain thick toast, with home fries. Firstly, the portions were huge, I can’t believe I finished it and probably won’t eat again until tomorrow’s lunch. The taste was excellent, there was tons of feta and it was extremely creamy, probably whipped. The omelette was busting at the seams to fit all that deliciousness….really outstanding. The bread was also outstanding and thick. The potatoes were real potatoes that actually tasted like potatoes and not all greased up, refreshingly fresh. My wife hardly finishes a meal and she was done before me, which never happens, suffice to say the waffle was excellent and not over cooked. Can’t believe they can deliver the size portions they do for the relatively low cost. I will definitely be back to try them for lunch
