Well, as I see some Americans saying this is very good Vietnamese, I have the very real feeling they have not had any real exposure to quality Vietnamese cuisine. Pho 16 in West Palm, or Pho 78 in Pembroke Pines. Or even the other Pho place on Gateway and Congress near the Kohl's department store, are on a much higher level. Both in price and quality. I ordered at 6pm, at this time everything should be very fresh and at the top of the businesses day sales. I ordered what I order a lot which is a vermicelli dish rice noodles of course, with a few different types of pork and shrimp egg rolls things like that. I got a single skewer with two little tiny shrimp on it there were so overcooked that you could not even remove the skewer from them. Dried out like they sat all day. And all the meat in the dish was the same. For a side I had ordered spring rolls, Instead of shrimp spring rolls they put a shredded pork that's all dried out, with cheap rice paper. All of their ingredients were the cheapest possible for the dish and the dish was right on par with what the good places charge about $12.95 a dish. I am no slouch when it comes to Vietnamese dining, as I have dined all over the country at Vietnamese restaurants as well as in Vietnam itself. All of the meats in the dishes had sat under a warming light for hours before they were put into the dish drying them out the kind of thing you would see it in all you can eat buffet and would not even want to touch. At 6pm you would think they would have fresh ingredients in their dish.
So long story short, the Bun Thap Cam, and Goi Cuon, are by far the worst I...
Read moreThis is the first time I have been here and, it has really became the worst experience ever. When I came here, no one would greet or ask me anything. I was told that my order was ready within 15 minutes, but it actually took more than that. When I asked for cancellation and requested a refund because I did not have time to wait any more, the old lady started to shout at me with a rude behavior, even though the way I asked her very polite. If you cannot fulfill any orders on time, do not tell customers that it would be ready to complete in your "estimated" time. That is a LIE. After that, she "invited" me to sit down and wait for it in English with a hateful attitude while earlier she just spoke Vietnamese to me when making an order. Didn't she think she did right because at that time there were a couple of American customers sitting there, so she want them to listen? Listen the whole story which the fault is at her? She was totally wrong. I do not like to argue or follow her words because I am a respectful person. As a owner or an employer, she shouldn't have such a bad attitude toward customers. Whens I picked up my order, I realized that instead of saying thank you or sorry, she gave me a black look like she want to threw it to me. Well, this is a business, it is not free. For the food (banh beo), scallion oil was off and horrible. It smelled rotten. BAD service and UNEDUCATED employer. I would not recommend this place to anyone. NEVER come back here as well. Keep in mind that you make money from customers. If you do not know how to treat your customers well, then you should close...
Read moreI stopped by for some take-out recently. I have a long history of having Pho. Once, there were no places around. Now there a bunch of them. This place is in a hidden corner of a dead-zone in a Publix plaza. Everything in that area, including the last places have all gone out of business because of the hidden nature. Hopefully they break the curse. The inside is decorated very nicely. They were busy but I had help right away. Their to-go menu, as stated in other reviews, is awful. It is very small and my vision makes eagles jealous. I got the Pho Thai because I usually dont care for the meatballs or the other varieties. As with other Pho places, they give you basil, bean sprouts, hoisin sauce, and peppers to put in the bowl. What stood out here was that they were kind enough to put the meat in another bowl with the noodles and the noodles were not saturated with oil. A really nice touch was that the bowl with the meat and noodles also served as the bowl to eat from. Their prices also seemed a little more reasonable than the other ones.
When I got home, I opened the broth for the whiffing. I wasn't please with the fragrance. It had a strong spice odor that I still can't pick out. Maybe it is cloves? Ginger? Both or something else. I added my ingredients and dove in. Aside from the strong spice (not hot; spice as in "spice") everything was delicious. The meat tasted like it was seasoned beforehand which many places do not do. Maybe it was my imagination. I will...
