We went tonight because I accidentally discovered this gem. Not a great location for visibility but they make up for it in exceptional service and very good quality food in this category. For me there is authentic coal-fired pizza, âfamily atmosphere sit-down pizzaâ and commercial pizza, and the divide is usually large. Wilderâs not only firmly puts themselves at the top of the sit-down category, but they almost bridge the gap to coal-fired without actually coal-firing. If you live in the Bradenton/LWR area, you know all of the usual places and probably have your favorite. You need to try Wilderâs. Despite its current above average rating at the time of my comment, I believe this place is still underrated. The sauce is delicious, the value is outstanding, and you can sit and watch the love and care that goes into your hand-tossed dough from the dining room. The ingredients are of exceptional quality in this space and the assembly is thoughtful. We ordered a large hand-tossed cheese pizza, garlic knots, two heat levels of wings, the calamari, tiramisu and the mud pie and all were a home run. Iâm a guy who likes a straight-up authentic cheese or marg pizza. If you canât make it to Brooklyn this weekend to get the real thing, then give Wilderâs a chance. You wonât regret it. It splits the difference beautifully. The only criteria that gets a slight ding from me is atmosphere but thatâs just because you can only do so much with your space. Come in and enjoy a nice, relaxed evening amongst friends. Wilderâs is a guaranteed...
Read moreI'm from the suburbs of Chicago. There, you could throw a rock and chances are you'd hit a restaurant that has insanely good food. Since moving down here, I have been absolutely CRAVING a pizza that was as good as home. I tried oak and stone... paper thin and greasy af. I've tried Joey D's... flavorless and bland, with way too much dough in their dough if you know what I mean.
Then I found out about this place. I had started a job close by and my manager would get us pizzas. That first bite brought me back to my local pizza joint from back home. Literally every thing I've tried on this menu has not only been reasonably priced but also incredible. No flavor overpowers anything, it's all just balanced right and cooked perfectly. This place should be packed every single day, and I don't leave reviews unless something truly stands out. This place does.
Also, shout out to the bartenders and staff there. I am so bad with names, but literally every bartender there has been wonderful and comfortable to deal with, and the kitchen staff always looks like they're having a blast being back there and cooking up some delicious stuff. This place is exactly what Chicago food is all about, and I hope nothing but success for this place and the people that work there. $12 for food, fries, drink, and a good time. You...
Read moreThis was my first visit here since the restaurant was transferred to Wilder's from Rocco's. Even though the owner and the restaurant staff was changed the quality of the food and service has not diminished. This is one of a very few restaurants in Bradenton that sells both pizza and burgers on the menĂș. During this visit my dinning companions ordered Angel hair pasta with meat sauce, and a seafood entrĂ©e of shrimp Fra Diavvolo, and my order was their steak & cheese sub. (Cheesesteak) My Cheesesteak was a special order, the menĂș specifying onions, mushrooms and green peppers with American cheese. I requested only the steak and to use provolone cheese, which was happily accommodated. But the unexpected highpoint was the freshly in house baked roll. According to my dinner party companions their entrĂ©es were also prepared excellently. While enjoying our meals I also inquired about thier pizza varieties. Upon entering the restaurant a display case containing daily available pizza slice choices. Thier Sicilian pizza made to order but single slices and other optional sizes are not available. (Ocasionally available on Thursday by the slice). This will be the first of other returning visits to try other menu options, which seem worth trying...
