The atmosphere of this restaurant was very off. I would give a higher rating due to our server being a very nice woman and treating us very well, but that experience was entirely overlooked by the fact that not only is the food extremely overpriced for what it is, the food was served on paper plates with plastic silverware. And sure, your restaurant was affected by the hurricane that occurred in October, but in no way is that an excuse to not have proper silverware for customers giving you their hard earned money, especially when you charge $50 for parking across the street initially, then I watch the owner try to haggle other people parked in the parking lot for an extra $40 to park longer when the owner’s son tells everyone trying to park in the parking lot that its $50 parking for the ENTIRE day. Me and my significant other had finished eating at the restaurant and went back to the car to unload our bags that we had been carrying with us on the beach so we could just explore that little area since the parking supposedly included “entire beach access”. As we are walking out of the parking lot a man begins to flag us down (who we initially thought was some lunatic or homeless man trying to flag us down for money, since he didn't even have any uniform on or way of telling us he OWNS this establishment) and begins trying to harass my significant other saying he had been “watching us” and we were “no longer allowed to park there even though we had ALREADY been parked there for 5 hours at that point because we were “not going inside of the restaurant” but instead to the gift shop that was about a 30 second walk from the parking lot and we had proof we paid already for that parking, which again was stated to have been ALL DAY parking. The man was extremely aggressive towards us, threatened to call the police for no reason, because of simply just asking him what exactly was the issue and WHY he wanted us to leave, and then scoffed at me, ignored me, then continued haggling yet another person in front of me for $40 extra for parking. If you want to have a successful business where people continue to come to your restaurant as loyal customers, maybe have some decency and respect for others instead of...
Read moreDon’t visit this place.
While it is a beautiful location, the staff is the rudest I have ever encountered at any place on all my travels.
My niece decided Manatee’s bay for her 40th birthday. 17 of us from Texas, Massachusetts, Dominican Republic and South Florida all traveled to celebrate her special day.
My mother has dementia and there are some articles she needs with her. As we approached the parking lot, the attendant, who is also the Owner referred to as “Mickie” asked if we were going to eat or going to the beach. We’d replied to eat. He then said for us not to bring beach chairs, umbrellas nor beach bags with us. I have a small bag where I keep my mothers crossword and Sudoko books along with hats and sunscreen.
As I walk towards the restaurant, the parking attendant said to me “you have to put that bag in your car, can’t take it with you”. I said I have my mothers things in it. He yelled rudely “put it back in the car” I replied that I wasn’t going to. He then told me “get your car the “F” out of here”.
As I drove away he is in the middle of the parking lot and tried to get in my way. I had to turn quickly to avoid closeness to him.
16 people were waiting for me at the restaurant. Unfortunately I could not find any other place to park. I returned to speak to the parking attendant Mickie. To my surprised he kicked out all 16 of my family including my mother out and cursed me out using profanity and threatening me with calling cops.
Police came and spoke to our party to find nothing wrong. For the owner of a restaurant to behave this way means this place has problems.
To me, this kind of treatment is uncalled for and no one should ever be put through this. A conversation, a question, politely can solve anything.
This restaurant is one that I will never visit not refer the thousands of people that consistently ask me where to go when they visit...
Read moreMy sister and I have been going here for years. And the quality of the food has gone downhill. All 3 of us ordered the beer, battered fish and chips it is not beer battered it came with a flour slurry. they came looking like some fish fingers off of a child's menu. The fish was overcooked like eating jerky and so greasy i had to use all the napkins to sop up the greese. None of our dishes came on the same shape of plate, nor did they come with the same portion sizes. You cannot get a glass of water which I believe is illegal in florida. Legally they have to give you a glass of water however at this restaurant they make you pay for a cheap walmart brand bottle of water the same price as you would a soda. Now I have to say our server was Great He did go ask as many questions as were needed and when we needed the manager, he did actually go get the manager. I gave service, only three stars because the manager did not stand up to a level above that. The manager came to the table and apologized for the fish and said once he saw it, come back, they switched the fish for the weekend. They did send out 1 plate of the better fish however it was after waiting a good 45min. The manager said he would send a desert to make up for it. I'm sorry, sir.I have been in the service industry for many years and a dessert does not make up for somebody's dinner. This restaurant has been removed from our list of places to eat. Yes, they have a great view to watch the sunset and have dinner. But folks, there are a lot of places on the island you can see the same sunset from a place that serves good food, gives you water and cares to actually take care of somebody's meal properly rather than offering a dessert to make up for it.
In the picture you can see the top piece is the first fish stick the bottom it the new...
