We have eaten here many times, ordered carry-out and brought in a huge group to eat in. We have never been disappointed. This is not something other than what it is, a small family owned restaurant, with plenty of seating, in a strip mall. Like so many of these eateries, it's just a great place to catch some good food when you are tired and hungry and need it FAST. You don't need to call ahead, because they serve you immediately - No Waiting. So the food is prepared ahead and yes the ground beef does have the tiniest bit of grease that rises - but how can you avoid that? Our favorite dish is Black Beans with Yellow Rice (and peas), with red onion, and shredded pork and onions. It comes with buttered cuban bread. If you order carry out the heft of the container lets you know you were served a FULL serving. We ordered two of these platters, with a full side of plantains and yuca, and two flan for dessert. The whole meal came to $28 and it was much more than we could eat. The rice and beans and pork alone would have filled us - but when we come we get it all and save the left overs for lunch. Out of town guests like it and so do we. This is a great place to bring the family or stop in and carry out. The food is hot and served right in front of you - so if you don't know what the menu items are, you can point to it and ask. Service was friendly and fast. That other negative review from Senorita was so unfair - I had to correct it. Don't pass this place up. The food is simple, good and filling. Not overly flavored, salted or greasy. You can add those to taste. And the shredded pork is a soft as butter tender. I have had the ground beef and the chicken, but highly recommend the pork. I would not know if it is authentic because I am not Cuban - but that does not make it bad. To me, it tastes very similar to the La Septima that has been around for ever. I would compare this in quality to the popular Thai Express up the street. La Cubanita is located at the intersection of Bloomingdale and Lithia Pinecrest - next door to LA Fitness and across the street...
Read moreCafĂ© Cuba has some beautiful pictures of Cuba on the walls, itâs a cute little spot. The sandwiches we ate were good.. they come fairly plain so we had to request the lettuce & tomatoes. We asked for cheese on each but they forgot to add it. The overall flavor was good, the bread was fresh and the temperature was just right. I wasnât impressed with the cafe con leche at all, improvement in that area is needed. They have a nice size menu & offer hot, ready to serve food as well if youâre in a time crunch. The menu is Cuban and Dominican so the name of the restaurant is a bit misleading. Our experience was nice but the woman behind the counter who attended us, told us to take pictures and told us she wanted a review from us when she brought us our food. I donât go to restaurants to be told to leave a review. A review is usually asked for if experience is enjoyable, etc. Overall our experience was good and we...
Read moreI have eaten at this restaurant for many years and the one the previous owners had. Since the new ownership the food hasnât been as it used to be. I understand that new owners mean change so I have been a few times since. The food today I ordered an omelet, a pork meal with rice and beans and a steak sandwich two orders of fries & had three drinks over $65. The food was terrible! The steak sandwich I asked him what came on it and he told me lettuce & tomato, it in fact had that plus onions which I do not like (thatâs why I asked) the steak was over cooked and tough, the bread was soggy. My husbandâs pork had no flavor as well as the black beans. My daughterâs omelet had chorizo and not salami as she had ordered. I feel like that was such a huge waist of money. I wonât be back....
