Mickey's is like an old fashioned hot dog/hamburger restaurant with a more modern feel to it. I had initially drove by this thinking it was a sit down restaurant that specialized in ribs because the building gives off fancier vibes than a hole in the wall restaurant normally does. A pretty standard menu. I asked the young man working the counter what the locals like the most. Not surprisingly, he said ribs and gyros. So I ordered the gyros plate. Its definitely big enough for two (like the wall says) and I could only get about half way through it. The meat wasn't super juicy and it was just missing something. The Tzatziki sauce was chunkier than I'm used to but it was very tasty and enjoyable. Also enjoyable were the razor thin sliced onions served on the plate. Perfect cut of onion for a gyro. Gyro plate was served with a boat of fries and the fries too, were very enjoyable. Crinkle cut and lightly fried. They did a nice job with these and they paired well with both Ketchup and the Tzatziki. After seeing a sign on the wall for a banana milkshake I had to order one. But it was artificial banana flavoring. Tasted exactly like a banana Laffy Taffy. A mild letdown since they advertised the strawberry shake being made with fresh fruit. Before I write reviews I usually ask myself what I think of the place and my first thought for Mickey's was "it was okay" which is defined by Google as 3 stars. I would try their ribs if I was ever in the area...
Read moreI have been coming here since it opened (1982 if I remember correctly). The gyros has always been the draw. The pita is not too thin and not too puffy. They crisp it up just a little. The tatziki sauce is creamy with shredded cucumbers, again not too thick, and not too thin. The cut their meat pretty thick and not too crispy. Topped with tomatoes and shredded onions with parsley. Crinkle cut fries with ketchup are the perfect compliment. Maybe an 8 out of 10 on my gyrometer. The rest of the menu is classic grease fare. The Big Mickey is a double cheese burger with grilled onions. Try the ribs or the rib sandwich. The sauce is a tangy hienz 57 type. The hot dogs are Vienna type with mustard relish and a pickle. They are a good blend Chicago style hot dog. High quality grease joint. give it a try if you are rolling through...
Read moreThis is about the worst food we have ever eaten. Coupled with the extremely rude and inept staff who can't get the drink order right. The fries tasted like freezer burn, the chicken was dry and tasted like it was out of date and I ordered a root beer but she gave me a diet beverage, not what I ordered. My husband got up and threw his BBQ beef in the trash because it was tough, chewey and smothered in vinegary bbq sauce. It is very low grade quality. They hide the lack of quality with excessive BBQ sauce. Save your time and money and don't believe the high ratings, they were likely written by staff and family. A complete disappointment. When we tried to ask the staff about the quality of the food, they replied, "if you don't like it, throw it in the garbage!" This is hardly good customer service. But it matched the...
