Denino's South Pizzeria — Restaurant in Brick Township

Been going to Denino's in Staten Island for 40 years. When I discovered Denino's South I was delighted because I love the pizza. I called for a reservation and the girl I spoke to said they don't take them. That's fine. I asked if there was a wait for a table for 2 and she said "no, but I can't guarantee that will be the case 15 or 20 minutes from now.". I'm 5 minutes away I'll be there right away. Just to be clear, I ask "so there's no wait for a table for 2 right now?" She responds, "it APPEARS that way.". I'm annoyed at her response, but chalk it up to her probably being an inexperienced high school kid. I'm there in 5 minutes and the I ask the manager for a table for two. He says 25-30 minutes. There is no one else waiting for a table My wife and I look around and there's 3 empty tables. One was for 6 or 8, so I can understand him not wanting to give us that one since it's a Friday night. A table for 4 is open so I ask what about this one. He says, "it's too tight of a squeeze for the server to get through between that table and the one next to it.". Really? So why have a table there to begin with? It gets worse. He just walked away! Couldn't care less. We would have waited if the guy wasn't so rude. We decided to leave and as we were walking past the window we could see 2 more tables for 4 in the next dining room. I understand about trying to raise check averages more people per table, higher the check. We don't care how good the food is at Denino's South, no one should be treated the way we were treated. This is such a clown show of an operation. I ordered a large pie for pickup that was supposed to be half cheese, half sausage, mushroom, and garlic. When my mom and I got back home and opened the box it was all cheese. I called them and informed Olivia of the mishap and she apologized and said we can keep the pie we didn’t order as if she was doing us a solid. She said she would have another pie made according to our order and said it would be ready in 15 minutes. We went back and asked if they can do anything for us for our troubles and she said we got a pie we didn’t want for free. I waited a half hour for them to make the pie properly but they couldn’t do it. I opened the box to find only three slices were sausage and mushroom and the rest were cheese slices. I asked to speak to a manager and Olivia and the other girl working there said there was no manager. These high school-aged girls were so incredibly rude. When I pointed to the pie and showed them it was not half cheese and half sausage and mushroom Olivia pointed to a cheese slice with one piece of mushroom on it and said “See, it’s half and half”. The other girl then said, “What do you want us to do? Make another pie for you?!” In the most snotty tone. I will never go back to this place. Extremely disappointed! Wanted to try this place due to many positive reviews of the pizza. Our beach house is in Lavallette and we still have not discovered great pizza close by. It would be worth the 30 minute drive if the food turned out to be great. Sadly, Deninos South food underdelivered! I ordered a pizza - half sausage and pepperoni and NO onions /other half was specified to be plain. When I got home, we discovered they had made us a whole “animal style” loaded with onions. One of my grandkids is a vegetarian, so he had nothing to eat for dinner, and my grandson who was greatly looking forward to his “animal style” with no onions also had no dinner. Everything else was only passable: the eggplant Parmesan dinner, chicken fingers snd fries, and the veggie pizza. The only person who really liked what he ordered was my son who got the grilled chicken Caesar salad. I know that the order was understood because the girl who took it over the phone repeated it back to me. Also, when I arrived at the restaurant and I went over to the cashier, she repeated the order to me. I think the problem occurred with the pizza maker who somehow totally misunderstood the order. The restaurant was hopping when I arrived, and the diners in the restaurant looked quite happy with their food. Somehow, carryout just did not deliver the goods. We won't be ordering from this...
