This is the real deal. You will not have to drive to Queens or Flushing Meadows, NY for truly authentic Mexican cuisine. It’s right here in Brick.
The homemade fried tortilla chips and queso dip is worth every penny. Thinly fried and not stale. Definitely blows Toss’d bland round machine made tortilla chips away.
Their flour tortilla, thin and freshly made, will make you realize that the Mission tortillas you buy at the grocery store is a complete waste. This is what a flour tortilla should taste like. I wonder if they sell it individually with a slather of butter. Nothing better.
Their amazing complimentary hot sauces come in three styles: I believe it is salsa roja with chipotle, salsa taqueria and salsa de aguacate (verde style with guacamole).
I’ve had their Lengua tacos, beef tongue, with corn tortillas. The only way to have a taco, corn. Not your crispy style flour version from Old El Paso. That is Tex-Mex. It sounds gross, tongue, but you will not find a more tender cut that highlights the essence of a cow.
For those who complain about the prices or portion size have been disillusioned by chain restaurants of Taco Bell, Surf Taco, Chipotle or Baja Fresh where authenticity is left at the door. Fillers such as beans and rice to make a gigantic burrito is a marketing ploy to con you into thinking you are getting a deal.
If you visit San Diego, find a Roberto’s and you will experience what a Tijuana style carne asada burrito should consists of, just beef.
This is Tacos Los Compas, where you have just crossed the southern border to savor a sample of Mexico’s...
Read moreI went here with my family for the first time and thought it would be great because of the reviews. However, we had a horrible experience from the moment we stepped in. They looked at us as if they didn’t want us to come in. Since there were tables we sat down and we didn’t know that we had to order at the counter since it was our first time. When I called the waiter over, she answered in a very disrespectful tone: “WHAT DO YOU WANT?! YOU ORDER AT THE FRONT NOT HERE.” She did take our order but her and the owner were staring at us the whole time in an angry. It’s sad to see how one Hispanic is racist to another Hispanic. We weren’t asking for free food we were going to pay along. When you’re in the food industry customer service is a must regardless of anything. If I could give 0 starts I would. Overall, they were all disrespectful including the owner. Not a family friendly place. I went here with my two boys and two...
Read moreI am a Gringo, but kind of an expert with Mexican Food. And my Spouse is from Mexico.
We ate here Sunday, 03/30/25, around 5:20 p. m. it was our first visit. The food was very good!
Pros: BYOB, Clean appearance, nice wall decor, fairly clean bathroom. Owner was friendly and accommodating. Fair prices.
4 different Salsas were spicy! Fresh and Very Good! Muy pica!
Food: Tacos de Pollo Campesinos Tacos Bistec Tacos
All the meat & chicken / tacos were very good!
Cons: Parking a little tight. Tables and Chairs for dining area were basic. Small clear plastic cups for BYOB beer; should have glasses or better plastic cups. Must order at counter, but then waitress service when food is ready; is a different type of process. A little light amount on the chicken tacos. Tortillas are not hand made. Prices on the menu are a $1.00 or 2.00 less than actual cost.
We will definitely be...
