The Pub at St George — Restaurant in Brigantine

We were 2 couples staying in the area and walked to the restaurant. We waited for the waitress to seat us and when she did were given the menus. That is when it all went down hill. We asked that we get 2 checks so we could pay separately. She became agitated that we would make the request and said it would cause our food to come out separately. We insisted that they be split. We ordered 3 cokes, a water and an appetizer (Nachos, with cheese, chili, peppers and guacamole) I asked for the guacamole to be placed on the side. When we received the order the cokes did not taste like coke, the other couple asked for a replacement. The chips that came out had the guacamole on top of the chips and a side of guacamole. The chips were stale and barely eat what we were served. We received our food shortly after. Out of the 4 meals 2 were ok and 2 really fell short. One of the couples ordered the chicken tenders which he stated were ok. The other ordered a meatball sub and received 3 meatball sliders. I assume that this was the same. I had the salmon and rice. The salmon was good but the rice was buttered up and my wife had the fish tacos which she didn't enjoy at all. The waitress did not check on us the whole meal nor did she come back to check our drinks as we had run out early on. After we were finished we waited about 10 minutes more for her to approach to see if we needed our checks and then another 10 minites or so to get that. We left the restaurant after paying cash for our meals just so we could get out and not have to wait for her to process a credit card. There are a few things that I eat here regularly that are really good: burgers, fries, chips, tuna melt. Other people I've been with have not enjoyed other items like chicken parm and other Italian entrees. But whenever I've ordered the basics they've been well prepared and fresh.

The people here are incredibly friendly and accommodating which is a big deal for me. Not every restaurant makes the best of everything, but if the service is good, I can forgive average food. At any rate, if you want a burger, nachos, or something simple, this is probably the best place on the island. And everyone I have ever dealt with here, from bartenders to wait staff, have been great.

On the down side, they aren't the best at takeout. I've ordered from here so many times and gone home with something that wasn't quite right. They left off the cheese on my burger, or forgot to swap chips for fries. It's frustrating to have to check every box every time.

On the plus side, they are quick to correct mistakes or comp orders that are wrong even if I mention it days later.

I haven't ordered cocktails at the bar so I can't speak to the quality, but the bartenders have always been attentive, friendly and quick to respond.

Overall, if you want someplace to stop for a good burger, this place is a great choice. You'll feel like the people care about you and you'll get good food.

If you want someplace to hang out and watch a game, or sit at the bar and get good service, this is a good place, too.

Stopped here for dinner on first night of our Brigantine weekend. Did not really have any expectations other than looking for a few drinks and some decent food. Place was a little empty at 1930 on a Friday night. Took a few minutes to get seated. Waitress was nice and ran down the beer list for us. I’ll admit a list to read would have been nice but I ended up just snapping a few pictures of the tap handles and texted them to our group. Beers were good and cold. We ordered not really expecting much-kind of nervous if I’m honest. Food came and quite frankly it was awesome! Elevated bar food is how I’d describe it. We had wings, chili, onion rings, fig snd jelly flat bread and a chicken salad. A surprise is that the chili came with homemade tortilla chips! Everything was really good. The place started filling up and a band began to set-up for a 2100 show. I suspect this is the go to evening place in Brigantine and it did not disappoint. The waitress got really busy but she never lost sight of us and even took some time to tell us about some great places to try while we were in town. We stayed for several songs from the band ( great sounds and not too loud-we could still talk to each other). We were happy with our first visit and will...
