So our visit to this place started off well enough. We were the only people in the restaurant when we arrived for lunch and was promptly greeted nicely by the waiter. We ordered our food (1 pho and 1 grilled pork and spring rolls over vermicelli), which arrived quickly. The grilled pork dish was good but the pho was a little bland, served with frozen veggies, barely thawed... A Viet limeade drink we ordered also tasted just like sugar water. I asked for and added my own set of limes, which made it somewhat drinkable.
Now for the bad... As we sat and ate our food, several flies started pestering us and tried landing on our food. Needless to say, this put quite a damper on our meal but we were hungry so proceeded to eat. Afterwards, thinking that the grilled pork was a good dish, we decided to order some banh mis (pork) to go. For some reason, these sandwiches took an eternity to make. Very odd as the first dishes were served promptly and those should have taken much longer to prepare. Long story short, the bahn mis were atrocious. A few pieces of sorry looking and cold meat, stuffed with barely thawed veggies with literally only half the sandwich full. I don't remember tasting any sauce either.
And last note, while we waited for the sandwiches to go, I ventured into the bathroom and passed by the kitchen where numerous flies were buzzing around and the cleaning lady was dragging around a bag full of garbage. Looking back, we should have just paid for the 2 dishes and refused the sandwiches. Definitely will not be...
Read morePho is not just soup. It is architecture in a bowl—broth as the foundation, noodles as pathways, herbs as atmosphere. At its peak, it is balance incarnate, a strand connecting comfort and vitality. Bravo Pho once captured that balance perfectly. But lately, the mission feels compromised.
The quality has dipped. The broth, once deep and layered like the soundscape of Metal Gear Solid 3’s jungle, now feels thinner, less commanding. The noodles remain solid, the portions fair, but the orchestration is off-key. The flavors no longer hit with the same precision, as if the developers of this recipe have patched out key details.
At the same time, prices have climbed. And while value is always part of the equation, it only works if the product keeps pace. Here, the scales tip unfavorably. The player is asked to pay more while receiving less—a microtransaction economy creeping into what should be a fair and honest campaign.
The staff remain kind, the space still welcoming, and the pho itself is far from unplayable. But the downgrade in quality paired with higher costs creates friction, pulling you out of immersion. What was once a perfect save point now feels like a checkpoint slightly out of sync.
Four stars. Because Bravo Pho is still good, still worth visiting, but no longer the flawless mission it once was.
In my games, sequels sometimes struggle to live up to the original. Bravo Pho’s current chapter feels the same: familiar, still enjoyable, but missing the sharpness...
Read moreMy Vietnamese friend and I often look for good Vietnamese food. This is a hidden gem in Levittown. It is easy to miss from the street and out is rather small and quaint inside. The menu is huge with something for everyone. We started with the Chicken Satay which was served with a delicious peanut sauce and the best cucumber salad I've ever had. The three flavors combined were out of this world. I ordered the chicken fried rice and immediately regretted my basic choice as it was not as exotic as I should have chosen - definitely tamed for American tastes. Still, it was very good. My friend ordered some Pho which was served in possibly the biggest bowl either of us had ever seen. It was also delicious and full of various cuts of meat. My friend's only complaint was that the accompanying vegetables were not as varied as is usually served with Pho (really only bean sprouts with a slice of lime.) Lastly, we had the Thai Tea which was so good we took some to go.
It was very quiet while we were there (lunch time) and a nice ambiance in the small space. The server was also especially quiet which made me thankful to have a Vietnamese speaker with me but definitely not a requirement. I will be coming back and absolutely recommend everyone try it if you're looking for something outside of the usual Chinese choices nearby and especially if you appreciate...
