I had lunch here with a guest last week as we were in the neighborhood and my guest had heard positive things about it.
She had a grilled cheese with onion rings. She said the sandwich was pretty good and served reasonably quickly. The onion rings were crispy and tasted good. She also had some coleslaw, or something... it tasted like cabbage in straight mayonnaise, without any tangy-ness from vinegar, no depth from celery seed, no salt, no pepper, no sugar... just cabbage and thick, heavy mayonnaise. I'm usually a big fan of good coleslaw, but I had to quietly spit this one out into my napkin.
I had a Caesar salad with chicken, and that's where things really fell apart. To call it a salad is really a stretch. It was actually some iceberg lettuce on a plate with a few croutons and a bit of bottled dressing. No egg, no cheese, no lemon, no anchovies (which I can forgive, I guess, due to the chicken?). You want to call this a 'garden salad' then , uhmmm, maybe, but a Caeser Salad is a specific thing, and this wasn't it.
I had finished my water before the meal came, but it was not refilled, so I asked for a coke... and I got, literally, a can of coke. I don't know if handing out retail cans of soda is a thing now, but its pretty crappy in my opinion. The message seems pretty clear though... no refills.
Overall the atmosphere was post-modern-senior-living-facility, but the music was 1980's hair metal, which I thought an odd choice to play in a dining establishment geared (apparently) towards older folks. Whatever, it was quiet enough to zone out.
Overall I thought the service was polite, but otherwise just OK, and the food did not meet any reasonable expectation.
If in the neighborhood again, sorry...
Read moreThought I'd try this place as my favorite cafe was about to close for the day. It was around 12:30 pm on a Sunday. The young lady that seated me brought my coffee right away but everything went downhill after that. It wasn't busy as there were many empty seats. 10 to 15 minutes later I was about to pay for my mediocre coffee and just leave because the server had yet to come over and take my order. He finally came. The order came out quickly but the inside of my omelet was runny and I had to send it back. I RARELY send food back. When the omelet came back out it was still slightly runny on the inside but edible. The ham was a little fatty. I found the home fries to be quite tasty but not good enough to ever go back there. The only thing I really liked about this restaurant is its cheerful decor. I will not be back. I'm sticking with the Radcliffe Cafe in Bristol. Best breakfast and...
Read moreI usually door dash breakfast from here however, the past three times I have ordered something has been wrong with the order. This time completely getting someone else’s food with my receipt. I typically don’t leave bad reviews but I’m a little dissatisfied. I would have been fine if I at least got the silver dollar pancakes for my son. I left five star for the food itself, because the food is delish. My son loves the pancakes but not getting half my order the past three times plus this time rather than two sandwiches, pancakes, and home fries, I received an omelet home fries and an egg scrambled. To summarize, please check the food before sending it out. It makes me not want to even risk spending money if I’m Not getting...
