Read moreGot a pick up order, tuna melt with seasonal fruit. Went into the restaurant to pick it up, the place was super cute and a vibe, but the waitresses didn't really want to acknowledge me standing at the register, they just kept carrying on with their conversation. Eventually a girl comes up and I tell her I’m there for a pickup, she wasn’t super pleasant but that’s fine. I open the box and I was under the impression it was supposed to be sandwich because the menu/website made it seem that way, i didn’t see anywhere that the sandwich was open-faced which I wasn’t super happy with as I was bringing this to a mini picnic and didn’t have utensils. Also, the fruit was loosely tossed in with the sandwich, which made the fruit have tuna on it (gross) and all greasy. The open-faced sandwich was tasty, but I just didn’t get a good impression from this place. I’m hoping to dine in next time and have a...
Read moreExcellent gem of a cafe. Chowder with chourico, brown butter and dill was silky, buttery, full of bacon and tender bits of tomato, with dill adding a perfect burst of freshness. The tuna melt was superb with tender, velvety tuna (must be european, packed in olive oil,) on a hearty slice of crusty, homemade bread and topped with a sharp, tangy cheddar. It was luxurious. The fries were crispy outside, tender and fluffy inside and nicely seasoned with paprika. Coffee and cafe au lait were delicious, creamy and piping hot. Dessert was a Malasada, crunchy edges and a pillowy interior crusted with sugar and a Pasteis de Nata (Portuguese egg-cream tarte) with pastry that shattered into buttery shards, then gave way to a creamy custard filling tasting of vanilla and happiness. Prices are reasonable, our lunch with dessert, coffee and tip was about $50. It was our third visit to Folklore and we can't...
