I saw Mychaela for a permanent color and haircut. I have dark brown hair and wanted to color it a lighter brown (like the photo below, which I showed her). When she was done I saw my hair just as dark as when I walked in. I gave it the benefit of the doubt because I wasnât in direct sunlight. At the end, she walked me to the window to take a photo of my hair under the sunlight and her phone charge âwas dyingâ. So no picture. Seriously!
I go home, first thing my husband says is that my hair looks darker (complete opposite of what I wanted). I stand on full sunlight and... well, you be the judge. I reached out to Mychaela and she replied that she had told me she could only do a color tone which wouldnât lighten my hair or she would have had to use a lightener. I was SHOCKED! She never told me that and I wouldnât have cared what she used as long as it was the color that I wanted, like the photo. I thought it was pretty clear.
Photo 1 is my natural hair, Photo 2 is the one I showed her, Photo 3 is my hair on full sunlight after she colored it. To be honest, I am more disappointed in the lie, she NEVER said it would only change color tone and not lighten it. I need my hair lighter for a specific photography project. Hoped she would have taken responsibility and made it right.
I am sharing my experience because I heavily rely on reviews before I make any investment and hope this could help someone.
Iâm sure there are many amazing stylist at New Leaf, unfortunately I didnât get one of those. Character is very important on my book. I want my hair stylist to be someone...
Read moreWent for a lash lift and tint, the stylist used a curling rod that was way too small. In the end my lashes looked like backwards Cs, they curled all the way back to my lid and caused physical discomfort. Some lashes were curled into circles. She was messy with the tint and I had stains under my eyes I could not remove. It was immediately obvious to anyone looking at me there was something wrong. I called them the next morning because there was no way I could walk around like that for 2 months. They receptionist was nice and got me back in that day. Honestly though the salon didnât really own up to it, they just sighed sympathetically and said they would try to make it right. Clearly the staff received a one-off training on the procedure without having real knowledge. The woman who tried to fix it basically did the perm again with a larger rod. It did look better when I left but now I have lashes going in all different directions. Was it worth the $80 I paid? Absolutely not. Do not go here for this service. They âfixedâ it to make it passable but I would have been better off not getting it...
Read moreI booked bridal hair and makeup service with Leaf Hair Studio and I wasnât very happy about few things. I asked for contact info to my makeup and hair stylist, wanted to let her know what was my dressâ design, what kind of jewelry Iâm gonna wear, pictures of me, my hair and wedding hair and makeup inspirations. It was important as it was destination wedding and I couldnât do the trial. They refused to contact me with her... it was disappointing but much worse thing happened on my wedding day. We agreed that my makeup and hair stylist will arrive at hotel at 12:30pm, at 1pm she was still not there. It was Sunday and studio was closed, nobody was answering the phone and I didnât have any contact information to Mara (my stylist). Finally she arrived at 1:30! Apparently New Leaf Studio told Mara our appointment was at 1:30pm while we made booking at 12:30pm. It was very stressful and stress is the last thing you need on your wedding day! Mara was very good and I was happy with my hair and makeup although the whole experience with New Leaf Studio wasnât pleasant and I wouldnât recommend it for...
