My family and I moved to Bristol about 5 months ago. I have been searching for a pizza place that sold the type of pizza and grinders that I remember from growing up in the New Haven and Fairfield counties. I had just about given up on that search until today when my co-workers suggested that I try Pizza Plaza. (My family and I must have tried about a dozen or so pizza restaurants within the last 5 months in and around Bristol. There are many others that we haven't yet tried, so I'm not saying that Bristol doesn't have other good pizza restaurants).
Finally! We found the one pizza place that knows how to make a good Italian pizza and they cut the pizza into large triangle slices which is our favorite!
The crust is perfectly baked (not too thin nor too thick). Crunch when you bite the crust, but soft in the center (just the way we like it). The ingredients used to make the dough taste fresh with the perfect ratios of ingredients to make it tasty from your first to your last bite. No frozen cardboard pizza here!
The sauce is tasty! Not bland like jarred sauce. You can taste the love they put into making the sauce taste homemade. It's spiced perfectly with Italian spices (I've had pizza that had tasted spicy like a Mexican pizza - this is not it... Italian all the way!) We also like the sauce to dough ratio.
The cheese is a quality cheese with the right amount of pull. Many places purchase less expensive cheese that don't have that perfect "pull to break" measurement. (Bite into the slice and pull, the cheese should stretch sort of like an elastic, not just break off.) The mozzarella cheese is delicious to eat on its own as well. Not bland, not like eating plastic.
I always choose a cheese pizza to judge one pizza from another, and Pizza Palace has taken the lead as the best pizza in Bristol.
As far as I'm concerned, anyone can cover up a bad pizza recipe with toppings and make it better. But a naked cheese pie is the only way to judge the love, the ingredients, the crunch and chew factors and of course the taste that pulls it all together into that perfect Italian slice that I've finally found at Pizza Palace tonight.
Now that I found a great naked pizza, I'm ready to dress it up next time with some yummy toppings! And if those toppings taste as good as the meatball parm sub I had for lunch, I might decide to stay with Pizza Palace for a while and taste the other foods...
Read moreBeware ordering from this restaurant online. They have horrible customer service skills, I would say none. We ordered a sausage burger (listed, sausage lettuce tomato Mayo) so you’d think it would be a sausage burger right, not a small piece of breakfast sausage? Okay me either. But we got a hard roll with a ton of American cheese, a ton of onions, and a teeny tiny breakfast sausage on it called a burger. So don’t order burgers, they don’t know what they are. I ordered a chicken gyro and I ended up with a yogurt sandwich. I wish I was exaggerating, but there was about 1/3 cup of yogurt sauce on it. Everything was white when I opened it, and I tried eating some, I tried taking some off, I just couldn’t palate it. Not a big complainer usually, but when my husband got a breakfast sausage for a burger, I decided to reach out to Slice, because that’s who does Pizza Houses online orders. They told me that they can’t refund me if the restaurant refuses to unfortunately. So I couldn’t get refunded through them. I called Pizza House and tried to explain my situation, they were rude right off the bat, I had to get loud for him to try to hear me, and so I explained a few times that I want to try to get a refund through them but they said you denied it, so they can’t give it to me. He says (screams) “you ordered online you take it up with them good bye!” and hung up on me. Obviously I tried to do so, and obviously I was trying to explain that I did as he’s yelling over me the whole time. What a nightmare. If you’ve read this far, you have to check to see if he replied to me, it’s going to show exactly how great they are at customer service and talking to people who spend money with them to receive terrible food. Can’t wait to read it...
Read moreLocated in the ShopRite plaza is this gem of a restaurant. I love a good pizza shop but this one by far goes above and beyond and restores faith in humanity as far as service and business owners are and should be. Parking - It’s near Planet Fitness on the side of ShopRite. There’s plenty of parking and if you don’t want to go to the store, they also do delivery service. Service - Very friendly…easy going..and goes above and beyond to give customers a perfect quality of food. The owner cares about the quality of the food that goes out and cares about helping in the community. The woman behind the counter was very pleasant in greeting, taking the order and letting me know when the order was ready to be picked up. Food - I got the special..which was a large cheese pizza for 10.99..after tax and tip, it was around $15. The pizza had the perfect amount of bend as you would want with a slice, the cheese was phenomenal and had a great blend to it. It wasn’t like some places where if it sits for a while it gets greasy….not here. The texture, the right amount of sauce..I can’t say anything bad.
Overall…on a 1-5…most definitely give this place a solid 4.9 but as I did one other place..I gotta go with a 5. On a 1-10…easily a 9.7. I will most definitely return and will always recommend this place as being one of the top pizza places in Bristol. I can’t wait to try some of the other stuff...
