I hate that I have to give it the score I am with some many things that were amazing but I will explain ⌠the goods first⌠the atmosphere, decor, service and flavors were all amazing. You can tell the place is brand new as it looks stunning. We went on Valentineâs Day and had a super nice waitress who was so personable and funny, she really made the night enjoyable. The flavor plate for most items was really good and authentic. The stand outs were the plantains and calamari. The few items that missed ⌠really missed which is why the overall score. The chicken wing app are frozen wing dings from my guess restaurant depot. One accidentally fell while being transported so she went and had another âfreshlyâ cooked but when she brought it back it was room temp and opened with no steam whatsoever. They also had that gooey inside texture that frozen wings have when fried. The other miss were both the skirt steak and the steak tips. Again, this wasnât because of the flavor but how they were cooked. We both asked for medium well and they came out like leather. You can see in the pictures. Usually a steak will have the juices underneath on the plate and when you cut in you lose some⌠not here. I actually thought my steak tips were pork chops due to the texture and color. The manager came over without us asking for him to check in and I shared my feedback which he understood and agreed. Being fairly new I understand missteps but as a âsteakhouseâ that is one thing you canât mess up. As a courtesy he brought over the âfreshâ cookie sandwich at no charge as an apology. The cookie was hard and definitely not cooked that day (actually reminded me of store brand cookies). In review, the flavors, atmosphere and service were all amazing. I would highly suggest having a specialty steak chef to nail the most important entree on menu. I would also think about adding fresh items to highly ordered items like chicken wings and desserts. Wishing the best for this local minority owned business and will definitely be back to...
Read moreThe restaurant is in a strip mall, and unless you know itâs there, it can be easily missed.
The ambience feels intimate even though itâs a rather large space. We were in a private room for a birthday celebration, which was nice; however, there was far too much on the table: too many glasses and plates, more for decoration than utility. This restaurant doesnât serve wine, beer, or alcohol, yet the table had champagne glasses at each setting.
The food was plentiful and flavorful, and our waitress did yeomanâs work in serving such a large group. The meals, though good, were not timely. Thatâs not the fault of the waitress, rather the kitchen. Some of us received the side vegetable dishes after we had already consumed most (if not all) of our meals.
The entrees are very reasonably priced, and thereâs a variety in terms of selection. My Red Snapper, lightly fried, was accompanied by a delicate sauce - Iâm not exactly sure what it was, but it was tasty. Others in the group also ordered the Red Snapper, Haitian-style, which they all said was good, but very spice. âToo spicy. Another of our party said her Beef Short Rib was too salty, so she didnât eat it.
Overall, the evening was quite nice, and the food was good. I would be remiss though if I didnât stress how professional and hardworking our waitress was! She deserved a huge tip - which I gave...
