Vacation is the perfect time to splurge on something like donuts for a quick breakfast while getting ready for the day. Though we were staying in Hochatown, a quick trip down to Broken Bow was worth it for some fresh donuts. I had seen the small building yesterday, so I knew approximately where it was, but of course I missed it this morning. I parked at the DG next door and mosey'd over to see what they had. Being mid-morning, I knew there could be slim pickin's, but to my surprise, the case was well stocked with a variety of options. I ordered a dozen, with the last 6 of their "old fashioned" sour cream donuts and 6 of their yeast donuts. The guy (who appeared to be both the baker and proprietor), was very friendly and served with a smile. Even as I checked out, he threw in a small bag of donut holes as well. I paid by credit card and I'm pretty sure there was no upcharge for using the card as is so often the case these days. The donuts taste fresh and light (compared with certain popular brands) and have been a highlight of my morning. I highly...
Read moreWe stopped in Hochatown for two nights on a road trip and decided to hit Broken Bow for breakfast on the way out, and we are so glad we did. We are no stranger to amazing food options being that we are from a big foodie town, Chicago. At first, when we pulled up and walked in, I thought this little place was going to be overrated just looking at it. I was very pleasantly surprised to find out that I was a fool! lol! The donuts were AMAZING! I've been all over this great nation and have traveled overseas many times, and I would say that the donuts that I had here, in Broken Bow, OK, are some of the best I've ever had. If you are in the area or passing close by, they are absolutely worth stopping in for a few. The service was nice, and they even threw in a few extra donut holes. The breakfast sandwiches were very good as well. My only wish was that they had more coffee options on the menu, but really, the donuts here are phenomenal so no...
Read moreThis is one busy place on a Saturday morning, and that's understandable as the doughnuts that we had were very good. The folks who are running it are friendly and patient as it took our grandkids a little time to figure out which pastry they wanted. There is little parking and even less space inside to sit but most of their business seems to be their drive-through window. I had an apple fritter and, while it was tasty, it did not have as much apple as...
