Rouge Local — Restaurant in Broken Bow

Absolutely abysmal experience last night on 9/20/2025 on all fronts. Honestly, this was the experience of a kitchen nightmares episode and I would not be shocked if this place was out of business in a month.

All of the positive reviews are likely locals leaving positive reviews to bring in tourist business. As a fellow Oklahoman this was a truly embarrassing experience and not a representation of our state! Stay away from this restaurant and save your hard earned money.

Dinner service took 2.5 hours, and food was served cold with minimal to no seasoning. I watched our plates sit in the kitchen window for 30-45 minutes while servers stood around. This food was no better than something you could buy frozen from Pruetts down the road.

Server did not keep drinks filled and did not perform a first bite check back. She did not have any knowledge of the menu and seemed to either be lost or not care. Bar was closed on a Saturday night.

Multiple tables left without paying because drink orders were taking at least 15-20 minutes. Entree orders 30-45 minutes. Service and food presentation an hour or more.

Cool renovated historical building but sign says steakhouse and shoppe. You’re not a steakhouse for serving one subprime ribeye and there was not a shop in sight!

Save yourself money and time and buy groceries and grill yourself a steak!

Tourists be careful going to places in this area - many restaurants have premium prices due to the location with low quality food and service. I highly recommend NOT eating out when...

They have no alcohol here. So if you want a glass of wine or a beer etc at this steakhouse, you’re not gonna get it. They told me they didn’t have any steak at this steakhouse when I asked for a ribeye because the truck didn’t come that day. I asked them for a pork chop they said they didn’t have that either. But they did eventually find a couple ribeyes thank goodness. I asked for a bruschetta for appetizer, for which I found out (20 mins later) they didn’t have. Their inventory was beyond F’D and there was no alcohol to quell my growing frustration.

Our server got double sat so she was in the weeds and it was obvious, but she did her absolute best with the hand she was dealt and she did great. She even came out to the parking lot when I forgot my Togo box 😂 got nothing but love for her.

The steaks were a perfect medium and they tasted good. We also got the chicken Alfredo and catfish which were good.

Get your liquor license and give people a heads up if you’re missing something...

Took over a half hour to get what we ordered as a table for two. I ordered the Cowbpy Cajun pasta which did taste amazing except for the fact that the steak was nothing but overcooked, fatty gristle. So disappointed because the flavor of the sauce was amazing. It needed twice as much pasta and sausage and you wouldn't even miss the steak. My cream cheese corn was really sad. It was corn in what looked like a very thin, watery soup at the bottom. My boyfriend ordered the hamburger steak which seemed to be a premade patty with no flavor and the mashed potatoes tasted like instant red skin mashed potatoes. He was upset but we waited so long that he ate his patty only so he wouldn't be hungry and we left. There's more but I'm gonna leave that out since it didn't have to do with the food, but the atmosphere. Just things that made me think twice...
