Bench Warmers Sports Grill — Restaurant in Brookhaven

My family and I to patronize this location for the first time recently and let’s just we won’t be back. I am pretty particular on service especially when I know I am capable of cooking my own food in my own home, but sometimes you want to just get out and explore different places. First, when we walked in there was a young lady at the hostess stand who took a couple minutes to acknowledge us which was the first red flag. Okay we let that pass. She proceeded to tell us that it would just be a short wait so it was okay for us to sit down and she would let us know when the table was ready. So we head to the sitting area that was literally adjacent to the hostess stand where one other couple was sitting. She proceeded to sit the first couple that was there after a few minutes. Few minutes later a few other couples had arrived and also sat in the waiting area. The other 3 woman who arrived AFTER us was asked a couple times how many people were in their party. And the second time she asked them, she came back 2 mins later and proceeded to seat them. Mind you they arrived AFTER us. So, not only were we not acknowledged since first sitting in the waiting area, my family and I had a whole other group be seated before us. When my husband approached the young lady to tell her that she seated them before us, she says “oh, I’m so sorry”. That was enough for me to say, yea that’s okay we’ll just leave because at that point we would have to wait even longer for a seat. Just a horrible first experience and first impressions are...

The waitress/server was super nonchalant & seemed very cool with offering mediocre service. Every time she came towards us her body language suggested she just wished we weren’t in her section or that she didn’t want to be there. The only time she had any pep in her step was when we asked for the check. Which we shouldn’t have even had to do. We asked for to-go boxes. You would think you would bring the check but she didn’t until she heard us verbalize it. She could hear us because she weirdly sat in the booth behind us. 🤷🏾‍♀️ After about 45 minutes the food came out looking amazing. It looked way better than it tasted. Everything was bland. The buffalo chicken sandwich tasted just like the provolone cheese on top. No Buffalo to be tasted. The chicken quesadilla was stuffed with dry over cooked chicken & the tortilla tasted like paper towel, the salmon tasted like it just it was just thawed & came out the plastic into the oven with no seasoning at all. The Cajun Alfredo….ummmm Cajun where? I had to season it with salt, pepper & hot sauce to make it edible. Our waitress asked how it was & we told her horrible. She offered us another dish but at that point we didn’t trust anything coming out of that kitchen would have been good except the appetizers. The pretzel, tots & cup of chili we started with were all good so we had our hopes up for everything else, especially after we saw it. Bottom line, this may be a cool place for drinks & apps but don’t order a plate of food unless you got hot sauce in...

I haven’t been here since the last World Cup in 2018. It was really good then and is still today!

This is your classic sports bar layout. Huge seating area as well as bar. In the back more seating, and pool tables.

Like the website says they have TVs everywhere.

I had the wings that I had four years ago and we had the Philly cheesesteak eggroll appetizer, as well as potato soup.

I want you to look at these photos. Those wings are huge cooked perfectly outside crispy inside tender. The potato soup was really delicious, tasted homemade. Those Philly cheesesteak eggrolls are the bomb! 💥 I’ve had them in every bar when I’ve seen them on the menu. These are full of meat, taste just like the cheesesteak. meat, not a bunch of fillers. I would come back just for them!

The service is great. Attentive. We were there during dead hours but I can imagine being a sports bar like they are when they need their servers they’ll be ready ready.

They are located in an old school shopping center. So don’t be turned off by that. Everything around them is vacant close down as they’re going to demolish in the future. Right now they are the only place open in there.
