I didn't know what to expect as it was my first time in this establishment, but I have to say I was impressed with the cleanliness of the entire restaurant, the server was friendly and professional, and the food was exceptionally good, namely the brisket that I had. We all know that there are several levels of good out there when it comes to food. You have good, real good, dang good, and let's not forget slap your mama good, but there is a special place above all of those for overachievers that I call maximum security prison good, that's when it's so good that you're willing to join a biker gang and light the whole city on fire to get a piece of that there, and that's what I trink of this restaurant. The brisket was juicy but not too juicy, crispy on the outside but not burnt to a crisp, and the meat is so good that it stands on its own without the sauce I could eat it all day, that's not to say that the sauces is not good, the sauce is wonderful and adds to the flavor of the meat... This place is definitely worth the detour to come all the way to, to have great barbecue, and that says a lot for Atlanta .. Bless your hearts guys, you did a great job..

Literally the best and worst thing to happen to me since I moved to Atlanta. Why you ask? I'll tell you! I'm in the process of losing weight then boom I run across this culinary gold mine. I come from BBQ too. My parents raised us selling it they even have restaurants in Baltimore. I've won multiple BBQ competitions and I can tell you I would not be happy if I saw these guys pull up at one of them to compete. The two things that impressed me most is the brisket and ribs. Most BBQ places I been to in ATL don't sell brisket because of how long it takes to cook it. Plus the ribs!!!!! people who smoke ribs usually over season them but Dixie found the perfect blend and allow the smoke do its thing. I would include the sides but I'm still trying to figure out if they really was as good as I remember or was that a really good dream. I don't know why Dixie is such a well kept secret but that needs to stop! After the year America had they deserve to know about this place!!

As I work nearby, I stopped by Dixie Q for a lunch with coworkers and we had a mixed but mostly positive experience. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a friendly vibe that makes you feel right at home. The staff was super nice, although service was slower than expected, which threw off the pace a bit. Food-wise, the sliced turkey and pulled pork were delicious - juicy and flavorful. The brisket, however, was overcooked and a letdown. The sides stole the show- collard greens, mac and cheese, and cornbread were all fantastic, outshining the meats. Portions felt smaller than anticipated, especially for the high prices, which was a bummer. It’s a popular spot, and I can see why, but the local media hype sets expectations a bit too high. Still, a solid ATL BBQ joint worth trying for the sides and atmosphere. Recommended - but set expectations appropriately.

Underwhelming. I don't have any idea how this place has above a 4-star rating. I went in with high expectations based on the Google review and was so disappointed.

Meat: We had a good variety and I've had better versions of every cut at other places around Atlanta. Pork rinds were the lone exception and they were great but nothing better than other "fresh" rinds I've had. 3 of us had sliced brisket and it was dry with little to no smoke flavor, and it was served somewhere between cold and lukewarm. If you want sliced brisket I recommend driving down to DBA or up to Heirloom. One of us ordered a chopped brisket sandwich which was similarly lukewarm and overly fatty. One of us had the sausage which actually had a decent flavor but was again served lukewarm. I've had better at Greater Good BBQ and others where they serve hot food. I had pulled pork which was by far the best meat (and it was hot!) but like everything else here I've had better pulled pork at almost every BBQ place in the metro area and can produce something of equal or better quality myself. My 5yo enjoyed his cheeseburger, but he is 5 and it was a cheeseburger.

Sides: Hit or Miss. Crispy Brussels were probably the best. I heard the Collards were good but didn't try them personally. "Creole cole slaw" was just cole slaw with creole/spicy mustard. Okay not great. Two people at my table ordered the red beans and rice and both of them had undercooked crunchy rice. Failure. Potato salad was vinegar style (german?) and mushy. I don't mind the vinegar style but this was not good. Finally the corn bread. The first piece we got had a nice griddle on the outside but was stone cold on the inside. We requested a replacement and the replacement was equally cold. This was also for my 5yo. He didn't seem to mind but again, he's 5. Unacceptable.

Service: Here is the part where I tell you that we waited over an hour for the above meal. Let me repeat...we waited over an hour, for BBQ, a food that is already cooked. Never in my life have I waited an hour between ordering and eating BBQ. I could wait for a table at Fox Bros on a Saturday and STILL have food in about the same amount of time, and they would serve the meat hot. Now this is not the waitresses fault but still part of the service. At the end of the night when we voiced our disappointment we were told that the reason was because they got way busier than they expected. That's possibly a true statement but not really an excuse. The server herself was okay but honestly not great. I suppose par for the course given everything else.

Summary: For some reason I'm feeling generous. Not sure this place actually...

Gets a bonus star from me just for convenience as it's right by my office, quick, friendly service.

I get that the owner is from Louisiana, but I don't know that a Fleur de Lis is the best symbol to use in Atlanta when starting a business. I'll just assume he's Catholic and it's a tribute to his spiritual beliefs and not his allegiance to a football team that is not to be mentioned.

Good job of capturing a rustic feel with a fun atmosohere. Taylor Swift playing on the stereo, no complaints here. Prices are in line with what you'd expect from metropolitan bbq. The food itself is mostly average. Pork is juicy but not very flavorful. Brisket is the opposite with decent flavor but pretty dry. Only one selection for sauce, but it's a new place and it appears there are more in development. The one that was available did a good job of complimenting the meat without overpowering it. I think my tastebuds are a little dull, but I would prefer a little more punch to the sauce. I'm not picky on Mac n cheese, so I enjoyed theirs, but I could see some folks not enjoying it. My highlight was the cornbread. It was slightly above average, but I'm just happy they didn't ruin it by trying to make it sweet. Seems like everybody thinks they are being unique these days by making sweet cornbread.

Again, it's brand new. I'll be going back at least a few more times to see how they settle in. Would love to make this my...

The manager here, Stephon is the absolute rudest person I have ever encountered at a restaurant. The restaurant charged me two different amounts for my check, and of course I wanted an explanation as to what happened and nicely asked the server what caused the two charges. He went to investigate the issue and then, Stephon comes back and said that I was charged for another customers ticket, as well as mine and the charge shouldn't go through. The charge is pending on my account, so i asked for something showing that i wouldn't be charged for the other ticket, he then proceeds to basically tell me to shut up and let him talk, as I was trying to let him know I was alerted of the two charges. I was never rude to him or the server. I simply wanted something showing the charge was voided. He proceeds to speak very rudely to me, so I asked, why was he talking to me like that? I have never been treated so rudely by a manager in my entire life. I have patronized this restaurant for several years and have never had anything but great service and food. I am still in shock, and not to mention that my 74 year old mother was in there with me. She was just as stunned as I was. I asked for the owners info, but never got it. I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN THAT...
