I want to start by saying my husband and I have visited here before and had a great experience, from the service to the food. We were excited to return, unfortunately we did not have a positive experience whatsoever. The main issue is that we ordered a bottle of the cold sake that was brought to the table, opened and placed in a wine chiller. My husband and I took our first sip and it was room temperature bordering on warm. We told the waiter expecting him to offer a solution. Instead, he admitted the truck delivering the sake had come at 4pm that day, but said that since it had been opened he could not switch it out for a cold bottle of different beverage. I find that preposterous, how can you admit that you know the reason the product is messed up, but refuse to offer a solution. At this point we are still trying to be accommodating and agreed he could just bring some ice to put around the bottle in the wine chiller. Well, he comes back to the table, pours all of the ice in the bottom and is then surprised the bottle does not fit. We then try just placing a few ice cubes around the side of the bottle, but that does not fit either. By now I am getting frustrated because the bottle should have just been taken back in the first place. Finally, our waiter says he will bring us a shaker and ice so that we can chill the shots that way. What ?!?!? I do not want a shaker and I do not want watered down sake shots. We had already ordered soup and appetizers but decided to cut our losses and requested the check. Our waiter comes back with the check and tells us he asked the manager if he wanted to speak with us and he said no. Mind you, we did not even ask to speak with the manager so the fact that he is now coming to the table telling us that the manager does not want to speak with us is beyond rude. We had come here for a date night and by the time we left it had completely ruined the mood of the evening. I cannot even begin to understand this poor quality of service and lack of care for patrons of the establishment. Rather than putting this review on Yelp, I wanted to discuss this with someone directly because I am sure the owner of the restaurant would want to know what is going on. Thank you and looking forward to hearing...
Read moreBottom Line: I would recommend. Very pricey, but the food was great and service was quick.
Atmosphere: Quiet, low-light ambience, dark theme. Very spacious
Food: We got two appetizers
The Bang Bang Shrimp($15) was cooked very nicely. The batter was very crispy. I was expecting the sauce to be a bit tangier. Not as much flavor as I had hoped for.
The Calamari Tempura($11) was much better than one I had at a very high end Italian restaurant last week in Destin. Perfectly fried tempura batter with juicy squid and the lime-wasabi teriyaki sauce that came with it was delicious.
We got three different entrees Two of my companions got the $17 Double Decker(Shrimp tempura, cream cheese/crab meat, ebi shrimp/spicy Mayo, eel sauce, and tempura flakes) and the $17 Playboy(Shrimp tempura, cream cheese/spicy tuna, avocado, red tobiko, tempura flakes/eel sauce). They were both essentially the same to me, but I liked the Playboy better because I wasn’t a fan of the fibrous texture of the crab in the Double Decker. I typically love crab, but this time around it tasted kind of dry and tough.
I got the $17 Picante(Spicy yellowtail, cucumber, Salmon, avocado, yellowtail, and jalapeño ponzu sauce. This was by far my favorite. The fish was so tender and all of the ingredients along with the citrusy ponzu sauce and the kick from the jalapeño just tied together so well. It was absolutely delicious.
Service: Our service was very quick. The only complaint that I had was I ordered a Miso Soup as an appetizer and our waitress forgot it, but she didn’t forget to take it off the bill. This hurt the review as a good miso soup is one of the things I consider a staple at every sushi restaurant I visit, and I didn’t get to try it last night. Nevertheless, she fixed the bill when I brought it up at the end of the meal.
Overall: Very pricey, but it was good. Expect to be hungry after one roll. I’d recommend three rolls for every two people. This is considering appetizers as well. The price for the value isn't quite there. Otherwise, great quality fish, great flavor, quick service, comfortable atmosphere. I’ll wouldn’t make it a regular dining spot, but...
Read moreMy expectations for this restaurant did not reflect the experience I received. I placed an order through Door Dash and because of my service experience, I will never spend another dime at this restaurant ever again.
They say the first impression creates a lasting impression and my impression of this restaurant is not pleasant.
Based on my experience with ordering Sushi for delivery, I have never gotten my Sushi served in Wholesale Styrofoam Containers, I honesty think that is so degrading. I was not expecting this type of food service, especially not from an "UPSCALE" Sushi Resturant as they proclaim themselves.
In addition to the Sushi I ordered, I also placed an order for Chicken Fried Rice, which was priced at roughly $13++. When I received my order it was served in a tiny Styrofoam Container. On Door Dash there were no portion options for Small, Medium or Large, so I assumed I would be receiving a large order.
When I received my order, I was very disappointed with my portion size. I understand that this restaurant is not a typical Takeout, as I was reminded by the Restaurant Manager when I called to inquire about the portion I received; however, it would have been nice to have portion options available.
The Manager also alluded to the fact that because of the demographic (Brookhaven) they serve and not being a typical takeout place, that's what influences their price point, that I completely understand. However, how the restaurant manager expressed this statement to me, it seemed very prejudice because I live a little opposite of Brookhaven (North Druid Hills). Which I guess to the manager is not an upscale area as the Brookhaven neighbourhood.
Overall the quality of the food was descent; however, their customer service needs...
