I recently visited Shoa Ethiopian Restaurant and had the chance to enjoy their Kurt (raw beef dish). The presentation was authentic and inviting, and the quality was immediately clear. The beef was fresh, tender, and prepared with care, offering that delicate balance of richness and subtle spice that makes Kurt such a unique dish. The taste was superb—clean, flavorful, and true to Ethiopian tradition.
A big part of that quality comes from Ato Aklilu, who clearly knows the right type of beef for Kurt and ensures it is always of the highest standard. His expertise and commitment to consistency make every bite exceptional, and it shows in the reputation Shoa has earned for serving some of the best Kurt around.
What truly set the experience apart, though, was the exceptional customer service. Helina and Yobi went above and beyond to make the visit memorable. Both were genuinely friendly, attentive, and detail-oriented, making sure everything was perfect from start to finish. Their professionalism and warmth created a welcoming atmosphere that made me feel not just like a customer, but a valued guest.
Overall, Shoa combines authentic cuisine, top-quality ingredients, and world-class service. Ato Aklilu, Helen, and Yobi all deserve special recognition for making the experience unforgettable. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a true taste of Ethiopia paired with hospitality...
Read moreVery clean and spacious restaurant with an extensive bar area (compared to other Ethiopian restaurants I have frequented). The service was pleasant, although there was a mix up on our food being served to the wrong person (still within our party of 6), who devoured my meal before we realized what happened. The waitress was kind and patient with us as we had many questions about food items on the menu. The menu seemed limited compared to what I am used to, but I definitely could not complain about the taste of the food. Everything was savory and well seasoned; it was fragrant. My tongue, stomach, & nose we're doing happy dances because the food tasted/smelled sublime. My daughters aren't big fans of Ethiopian cuisine, but I told them to split the spaghetti (it was a large portion) & they loved it. The main complaint was they didn't have any more honey wine/Tej and were waiting on the next shipment. Also, they had run out of the Gomen Besiga (my original order). Plenty of injera bread was served with each food item (I have seen where that's a rarity & you have to order...
Read moreI've never seen or heard of restaurant owners being this rude to someone in their store. There was a young woman crying her eyes out and they were yelling at her. Apparently she had committed the sin of parking in their lot (which was maybe 10%) full, and they'd had her car towed. Instead of showing her any sort of kindness they just yelled at her and berated her. They seem to me like they care more about taking their anger out on folks than they do in showing any human decency. And by the way, the signage in their lot is awful. This strikes me as a situation where the owners are taking advantage of Atlanta's terrible laws to make extra money from towing. I can't imagine rewarding this kind of owner with my business, and I strongly suggest you don't either. Update: it is shameful that the restaurant hides behind the notion that only their customers matter. The young woman who was so upset was a person, and the owners disregarded her humanity in exchange for whatever fee they get from the towing company. It's truly...
