Stepped into Taberna De Haro on a Saturday night around 9:30 with about 7 girls. The hostess asked us if a high top table was okay and proceeded to help us put 2 together to sit at. She brought out some menus and we told her we were just staying for drinks. She silently took the menus and walked away, seemingly annoyed. A waitress then came up to us and said "usually when you come to a restaurant, you check in with the hostess before sitting." We explained to her that we did check in, and the hostess in fact helped us put our tables together. She proceeded to tell us we were lying and said "I saw you put the tables together yourself." We were all horrified as we looked to the back of the restaurant and saw the hostess looking at us and snickering with another waitress. We once again explained to the waitress what happened and told her we were only drinking. She then condescendingly said "would you like some cocktails menu then?" And proceeded to grab cocktail menus. By now we were all way too weirded out that we just left. It was an extremely bizarre situation - nothing like that has ever happened to me at a restaurant. We would have ordered a bunch of drinks and left a great tip as we always do, but the downright rude and disgruntled wait staff/hostess apparently didn't want to do their jobs. Imagine being angry that patrons come in for a few drinks on a Saturday night. I'll also note the restaurant wasn't crowded at all, there were about 10 other people in there. I hear the owners are really nice people, it's too bad they made some terrible hires. I can't comment on the food or drinks because we were never served, but the...
Read moreFood and drinks are really good, the black paella alone is worth the diner, service is a BIG issue, we were a group of 6 people, don't ask me why but apparently is a big issue to push table together at this place so they want allow us to seat all at the same table, so we booked two different tables for 3 people each. We arrive and NO ONE of our table was ready, actually all the table in the patio were full with people eating, they let us wait for almost half hours. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE, if a client book a table you are supposed to have a table to sit him/her /they at the time of booking. They did not and they didn't apologize neither, they just looked at us and say "you have to wait 20 mins" like if we were a walk in clients. UNREAL. (FYI in the end we ended up be 5 so they squeezed us on a 4 persons table, I don't want to imagine how long it would take to wait for both (RESERVED) tables) This is already enough for a 3 star review, but they did something worst, once that they has us sat (30min waiting with a a reservation and no apologize at all) we waited, I'm not kidding, other 20 min to get just water. tables booked for 8:30, let us set at 9, let us order and bring us water 9:20, 9:45 first plate on the table (finally), 10 first drink on the table (yes, I know, food before drink, basic mistake!!). They really have to work on the service, especially because all the food, the wine and drinks that we got were GREAT, it is a shame to ruin a nice dining experience with such a bad,...
Read moreStaff was friendly and ambience was great. Some dishes were great while others flopped. Croquetas were very dark and over fried but tasted alright, appreciated them tossing in a fourth croqueta (supposed to be 3 but we were four at the table). Pinchos de Moruno were excellent. Papas arrugadas needed a little oomph being just whole baked mini potatoes with a side sauce of spicy tomato. Price for baked potatoes was pretty high in my opinion. Don't order a side of olives, you'll get 3 normal sized green olives and the rest will be teeny tiny green ones with barely any olive meat, tho EVOO was great. The biggest disappointment by far was the cheese plate. 5 cheeses, 16 bucks. I wish I was exaggerating when I say that the portion of each cheese was bite-sized, it was almost embarrassing to behold. To give you an idea, each of us was able to eat a dime-sized amount of cheese from each type. There were a total of 7 marcona almonds on the plate. Bread isn't served with the cheese unless you ask for it specifically. Definitely ask for bread because it was tasty! Gambas were super delicious but the garlic pieces in the sauce were almost blackened. Wine was great and wine knowledge of the staff was great. All staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Overall I thought if the attention to detail on food preparation was a bit better and the pricing on the cheese platter were better (for what it was), I would visit again. Would also love to see more vermouth selection, because I...
