Tatte, tatte, tatte… this place could clearly be something special but quality control has not been optimized here. I imagine the consistency of this place around the city varies. During my stay in Boston I stopped here once if not twice a day. My feelings about this place are mixed.
The drinks we had were consistent and yummy. I can recommend the flat white; their house latte (borderline too sweet for my taste); as well as their iced beetroot latte (with oat milk). Note: the beetroot latte IS about 20% too sweet for me.
Food here is good enough. Some eggs were overcooked. The shakshuka had one medium and one poached egg. Do not order prosciutto and pea tartine: you will be disappointed. It was severely unbalanced: not enough salt or acid. The Halumi crunch salad was just barely not good enough. It felt like it had been sitting in dressing for a too long and the cheese wasn’t actually crisp or crunchy.
Tatte was definitely better than other cafés we stopped at nearby. Their lamb hash was pretty good (more acid please) as well as the shakshuka.
We tried one passionfruit dessert that was prettier than tasty— underwhelming and too sweet. Croissants here are good enough: had the two best bites of my pistachio croissant been the entire experience I...
Read moreSomeone had brought in a bunch of Tatte's baked goods for an office event and they were lovely. I had to go in and see what this place was about. CUTEST space ever. Black and white for the main colors with touches of wood and hardware to home up the place. The chandelier gives you so much light.
The service was great. The person behind the counter was both bright and cheerful. I ordered a blueberry hazelnut muffin and the roast beef sandwich.
When I got my sandwich I discovered the only downside I've seen of this place...the sandwich's enormity. This really isn't a downside, it's just a cautionary note. 1 sandwich = two meals. I defy people to make it one and then pity for their foolhardy arrogance. Bring a wheel barrow and a friend to push you home if you're going to try this. The sandwich was great, crisp french fried onions, mild emmental, cress, and rare roast beef. What could be better!
All in all, I have to say that this place has amazing baked goods. I could eat one of the blueberry hazelnut muffins every day. Not too sweet, full of blueberries, nice balance with the nut. All I have to say is,...
Read moreThe location is entirely too crowded, I understand that this is a popular business and location but the inside is insanely congested, it felt like we were packed in like sardines. That would be fine, but I ordered the cold brew, it was undrinkable due to this unmistakably sour taste. I never do this but I went to return the drink to get a new drink. The guy behind the register acted as though my taste buds were wrong and that the drink was perfectly fine. I found his reaction to be insanely condescending, further more he offered to replace my cold brew with a basic house coffee, that was totally absent of taste. So i spent money for a premium beverage to receive a non-premium beverage. The breakfast sandwich was good, and the eggs were properly cooked as over medium, but the sourdough was just entirely too tough. My girlfriend found her iced house latte to be overly bitter due to excess cardamom. Overall it was a lousy way to start the day.
In short, I found the food and service to be seriously lacking in quality for the price point and I will not...
