I remember when this restaurant was a Chinese buffet years ago, and they have come a long way! We were at Kintaro for the first time, and what an experience it was! This was our family's first time experiencing a hot pot restaurant, but for my wife who has been to China, it was second nature. On the hot pot menu, you select what items you want and they bring it out on a large tray. You cook in various liquids until it is ready. There is also another station where you go and make various dipping sauces for your food! There were many items on the hot pot menu which I had no idea about, but we tried just about everything. The major difference my wife said about this hot pot versus the ones in China, is that the meats came out frozen here, but in China, they were all fresh. No big deal as it all tasted great! Onto the sushi menu. Holy Cow! Again, the menu's come out, and you write down what you want. All the items are clearly explained as what they contain, so there are no surprises, especially for those that want to try out new things. They have just about every combination you can think of! I've had sushi / sashimi in many different restaurants, and can honestly say that Kintaro's is one of the best, if not the best! Very fresh! Their sushi menu is huge with many variety's. You could easily come here 20 times, and not try everything. At other restaurants, you could easily spend $29.95 for sushi and get pretty much a sampler platter. Not here! Wow! As of this writing, the all you can eat hot pot is $24.95 and the all you can eat sushi is $29.95. They do have a Chef's special hot pot for $32.95 which has many more items, but we did not try that one. I do want to add if the entire party gets the all you can eat, you can easily share among everyone. My wife and kids got the hot pot, and I go the sushi. We all shared the food from the various menu items. Okay, there is fine print to all of this. On their menu's they say there's a 2 hour limit eating. We were there 2.5 hours and no one told us we had to hurry up and eat, so I am unsure if they fully enforce this rule. Also on the menu it states they would include a 15% gratuity for a party of 5 or more. We were a party of 5, and they did not include the gratuity. Since the service was great, we naturally gave more than 15%, so it wasn't a big deal. This last one I was worried about. They charge a $10.99 per pound of wasted food! While I don't advocate wasting any food, there comes a time where you don't like something and you get rid of it. This happens all the time at buffets. Kintaro takes this to the next level. They will charge for waste. At our dinner, we had some food the kids and myself didn't like, so we put it on a plate. There was some food waste, but we were not charged for it. Again, I don't know how much they enforce this, but I'm just giving you fair warning. Overall our experience was excellent! The restaurant was clean. Service was great. The food was great! I really can't think anything that could be changed from our experience! Go ahead and try a new experience! We are definitely coming back! Update 3/23/19 The prices have changed a bit since we were there last. The all you can eat menu is now $25.95. That includes the sushi and hot pot. Previously they had 2 different pricing for the hot pot, now the same price has all items. The food was still great, along with service! Highly recommend.

Before I start this review I would like to say I would give this place 2.5 stars if I could. I came here back in 2022 and I remember this place being much better than it is now. I ordered miso soup, eel nigiri, shrimp nigiri, jeep roll, Acura roll, Toyota roll, and the rainbow roll and I was pretty disappointed in the turn out. The miso soup was watery and had barely anything in it, it was bland and lukewarm. All of the rice for my sushi was overworked and mushy leaving much to be desired of the texture. As for the aspects aside from the rice, the shrimp in the nigiri was great it wasn’t overcooked and I did enjoy the taste of the shrimp. The eel was dry and the pieces were quite small. The rainbow roll was decent, not too much cucumber and the slices of fish were not too thin. The toyota roll was forgettable the tuna slices were incredibly tiny and the quality was not amazing. They were pretty stringy with the sauce on this roll and overall I was not impressive. The Jeep roll was probably the best. The salmon was thick and really tasty and the tempura was great, I’m just sad I had this last and couldn’t fully enjoy it because I was so full. I left the Acura roll for last because it was probably the worst part of my meal, the tuna was bland there was barely anything crunch, just like everything else the rice was bad and worst of all o found a hair in the last piece. When I made my waitress Vivian (who was amazing btw) aware of the hair she was very apologetic and offered to replace all my food. I didn’t have time to wait so she just cleaned up my food and had the cooks replate everything. I didn’t find anymore hair luckily. Vivian did give me a 10% on the meal which I appreciated. The only reasons I believe this place deserves a 2.5 is because Vivian was awesome and so far I am not sick from the food. Overall I do not think I will dine here again and I hope the quality control issues this restaurant is having improves.

I’m giving this restaurant 5 stars for multiple reasons. Firstly, the server I had was amazing. She was attentive, friendly and made our first experience enjoyable. The menu for all you can eat sushi is quite extensive, I was very impressed. I typically look for all you can eat sushi places for value, $30 per person doesn’t get you really anything at a standard sushi restaurant. Because of this I typically expect the quality of the rolls to be sub par and I load up with sashimi / nigiri. But not this restaurant, I couldn’t believe the flavour combos, really something for everyone. The Tesla, Cadillac and Chevrolet rolls had me wanting to eat to nausea. My fiancé and I ordered a few other menu items, the teriyaki chicken was a bit dry, the tempura was a bit greasy but the Gyoza were spectacular. We ordered probably 4 orders of them. We got a Chicken “noodles in the soup” which was amazing, but I did end up getting a small piece of wire in the chicken. Which felt like bone but turned out to be a black wire. The server and manager immediately came over and made sure it was taken care of. I understand random stuff like this happens, mostly to me haha. Despite this I am still giving my experience 5 stars. After reading a few reviews before going I see there is some issues with tipping? Good service deserves a good tip, if you feel like you didn’t receive good service speak up, don’t just tip poorly and expect them to understand.

Edit: Went back and took my own advice. I ordered a ton extra and boxed up what I couldn't eat. On top of that boat I got 2 orders of shrimp tempura, mushroom tempura, crabstick tempura, fried scallops, 3x seaweed salad, crab Rangoon, and potstickers. Took home like 2lbs at $10.99/# (not $12 like they told me last time). It was 100% worth it to take extra home at that price. I'll never not get extra again. Original review: Been dying for some AYCE sushi, and this place definitely hit the spot. A few things of note: This is not a buffet. You order like a regular restaurant. Pro: everything you get is made to order and fresh. Con: you have to eat a whole roll of what you order. I like eating a bunch of different things, so this would have been a bit of a drawback, except for the fact that the rolls I got were SO good that I could have eaten two of them. That and the fact that I was starving when I got there and was able to polish off like 5 rolls on top of the apps. If you order something you have to eat all of it. If you leave a bunch, they'll box it up to go and charge you $12/#. That's not a threat to me though. After I was stuffed, I almost ordered a few more rolls just so they'd box them up for me. $12/# for fresh sushi doesn't seem like that bad a deal. Your best bet is to go with a couple other people so you can split stuff and help each other out and try way more items. Will definitely be going back.
