Ok Iām from NJ and lived there for 40+ years prior to moving out to CO. I decided to give this franchise a second go after I wasnāt thrilled with my first attempt at another location. First off I seriously donāt understand how people rate this chain so highly, either they never actually had a good sub so they donāt know any better or there is nothing else better to compare it to.
Pros ordering easy, quick turn around, friendly associates.
Cons mostly surround the food itself. Bread is kind of stale, not flavorful. Sub filling was underwhelming for an Italian, back home a $20 sub gets you 1 1/2ā of meat here it was like one layer of thin meat each pass. Second the cold cut quality seemed very generic, back home you had boiled ham and a deli style salami and pepperoni. Itās itās more like off the self black Forrest ham, with hormel pepperoni. Red onions are used rather than white, lettuce is Chopped va shredded thin, tomatoes were too thick. The sandwich was dry even though it had oil vinegar and mayo but again itās like they use the wrong type of ingredients. Rather than extra heavy mayo and red wine vinegar with oil I feel like the mayo was regular, the vinegar was something odd not sure what.
Overall not a fan of these subs, feel like itās comparable to a premade Walmart sub or if you tried building a sub at home not know what your doing. Hate to be so brutally honest but this isnāt remotely close to a NY style sub shop and that just annoys me when I see that as the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFeeling pretty bummed right now I decided to try 2 large sandwiches from a place I never visited before. Was hoping to at least have leftovers but a few bites into both I'm just... $30 down and totally lost my appetite.
Both staff members were notably friendly and made a great atmosphere for everyone in there so I really doubt they were at fault for what I'd guess is just poor recipes and ingredients. Jerk chicken should have at least a LITTLE flavor. Ideally, a lot. I'm not sure if the idea here was to season it up afterwards to emulate the flavor but this is definitely just a generic, flavorless white meat and whatever was tossed on afterward does not do the name of the sandwich any justice.
I hate that I probably sound particularly picky right now but neither purchase feels anything like I'd expect a New York themed shop to serve up. Menu looked great all around but I won't be returning back to find which options they might actually do right.
With a lot of other really decent reviews for this place here I hate to leave negative feedback. With so many options for sandwich shops I regret to say I'll just look...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have spent the entirely of my life eating sandwiches. I have been to AT LEAST 5 delis in my life, and have had more than 12 sandwiches. Out of all my experiences in the world of bread and meat, I can say with absolute certainty that DELI ZONE DEPOT HILL can indeed make sandwiches. Reasonably priced with an extensive menu, my heart soars every time I can find an excuse to go. At night, when I sleep, I dream of the exquisite sliced meats and cheeses dripping delicate dressings onto my plate, and imagine the feeling of their large, soft buns cupped in my hands. DELI ZONE DEPOT HILL has become permanently affixed in my heart as a sandwich shop. Thank you DELI ZONE DEPOT HILL for being close to my...
