First I wish I had taken a pic of the food to share with you. But My family went to this restaurant yesterday evening. I had ordered the Lasagna. When the food arrived the Lasagna looked horrible it was flat wasn't even luke warm. Couldn't even cut the lasagna noodles with a fork. The noodles were tuff and needed a knife. There is a serious problem when you can't get a fork through pasta noodles. Once tasting this lasagna it was not up to eating at all. Cold tuff noodles looked like it had been sitting in the kitchen all day. Very nasty. I gave the plate back to the waitress and told her it was old tuff and cold. She said she would let the staff know. She took my plate off the table went to talk to the kitchen and manager. Then imagine my surprise when she came back with my plate and informed I would have to pay for this plate the cost of $16.00. I'm not sure what they hoped would happen but I told her that was unacceptable. Then was told that was there policy. So the food was horrible and now Im paying for it. I wasn't offered anything to replace my meal. I was told that they receive there lasagna in a pan and they just warm it up. Obviously this had been warmed up for to long. This is not what one would expect from a Italian restaurant. My husband asked to speak to manager. She was of no help at all. That was there policy. Terrible customer service. I am not one of those looking for a free meal. The manager told my husband he was getting into her personal space. He told her don't worry he was leaving and would tell everyone he new to never eat there again. This is a chain restaurant. My husband went outside to wait for me to pay the bill. This manager kept watching our table. It took forever to get the bill and pay so we could leave. The manager was looking out the window at my husband sitting outside waiting on me so we could leave. Totally unacceptable performance by the management staff. If this is how you treat your customers you suck. I would not recommend anyone eat here. Never have been treated this badly. There was a problem with there food, and staff. DON'T EAT HERE. This ruined everyone's experience....
Read moreI love this little Italian Restaurant! I hadn't been there since my husband died in April It was one of his and my places to eat. I wasn't going to go, but I'm very glad I did. It ead like old home week! It was like walking into Cheers! Instead of yelling NORM! It was MARE.....and GARY? Needless to say no one knew, but they were so kind and wonerful they way they treated my girlfriend and I. They sent over mhusband and my fave bottle of wine. It certainly wasn't necessary, but wouldn't take mo for an answer. Brought out they're wonderfull warm bread and butter and their olive oil infused with their own mixtof herbs and garlic. Deliciousios!! We ordered shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were perfectly chilled and the sauce was plenty spicy with a bit of the the right amount of sweet. I ordered the Fettuccini Alfredo (my fave). It was perfect, the right amount of cheese, provolone, mozzarella, parmesan etc. It was cteamy, not stringy. I LOVE it! My friend got the Eggplant Parmesan and raved about it! I'm not a fan of Eggplant, but I took her word for! We also ordered a Calzone to split and take the rest home. Highly recommend anyone them. They ate a really nice size to split and the ingredients are fresh and tasty and the crust is golden brown as it should be. We finished our meal Tiramisu. My friend had one piece and loved it. I ordered 2, one piece to eat there and the other to take home! Please give Sals a try. I promise you won't be disappointed! I'm so glad I went and at the end of our meal some the staff stood atound the table and silently toasted my husband.......And that is one of the many reasons I support locally owned businesses! It's bittetsweet for me, but I have such good memories of the wonderful food and the awesone staff! Sorry I wrote a novel, but I'd do it again!!! ...
Read moreFood is great, service is lukewarm. The best description is that it feels like the place is being run by people who are still figuring out what to do, and the wait staff are all teenagers who are not all on the same page with policy and are still figuring out what to do. It isn't bad service per se, it is just that minor setbacks seem to throw them for a loop.
The best example I can give is a few months ago, my husband and I went in for a date. The food we ordered came with a side salad, which I did not know came with feta cheese. I am pregnant and cannot have soft cheeses, so when it came by, I mentioned this and asked if I could have a new one without cheese or perhaps with maybe mozzarella instead. The young waiter looked like I was gonna yell at him and proceeded to pace around the kitchen asking his fellow coworkers what to do. It was a bit silly to witness, but also a bit inconvenient since it took him about 5-10 minutes to resolve the issue. Not bad service by any means, the issue did get resolved and it's not like I waited for 30 minutes. But it is very obvious that the wait staff needs more training to be more confident in what they're doing. Sals, if you're reading this, I wish you all the luck in getting settled with your new management and cooks. Please train your wait staff a bit more, they're fumbling and need a bit...
