I had the King stuffed Flounder. Came with Flounder topped with stuffing, mushrooms, and pea size shrimp. It was served with fried potatoes, green beans, and zucchini. The entire dish sat in a cheesy sauce. It tasted amazing though it was enough for 2 people so I couldn't finish it all. They had great tasting sweet tea and for my meal it all cost $34 which was very fair considering the amount. The restaurant had a fun atmosphere and I noticed a sign that read Mondays special from 3 pm - close is $0.75 raw oysters 😋 my favorite and I look forward to trying that. They also have karaoke on Mondays if that is your thing, I definitely would try it. TVs could be placed better or offer more, I somewhat was able to watch the NFL game which I enjoyed since I'm an out of towner. The down fall and reason I only gave 4 stars was the loud instrument the employees kept using for the 3 different birthdays. It was extremely loud and startling each time. Kind of hurt my ears. A little girl about 6 or 7 next to my table was scared and her mom had to hold her and cover her ears. I also noticed an older man having to cover his ears as well. The gesture for the guest is nice, but the amount of noise is disturbing and can prevent someone from wanting to return.

When I'm starving, I usually order the blackened shrimp with alfredo (love this and have never had problems with this), but I don't know why I decided to order something else when I was starving. Big mistake. I ordered the shrimp tacos with 'just a little bit of lettuce.' What I got was mainly lettuce (pictured shows how much lettuce and the dry parts of the tortillas, minus the tacos) with shrimp topped with chipotle sauce, tomatoes, and tortillas that were falling apart (because the lettuce made them soggy and I'm pretty sure they weren't that fresh). I was disappointed because for the price I paid, I expected something better. I still ate them though because I was hungry and didn't want to wait again. Aside from that, the pina colada was delicious. Update: I went the other day and was told that the happy hour specials shown online are only valid for the island location, even though the site does not specify that and the manager even said they've asked that it be updated because of the confusion but still hasn't been. I'm not sure why they wouldn't update their page, but I'm glad I asked ahead of time otherwise we would have had an unexpected bill. 😑

From what I was told this establishment has been here for many years and well known for preparing phenomenal meals; recognized locations in Brownsville and South Padre Island for serving fresh seafood cuisine and bought locally. We decided to have dinner here for my wife's birthday with a few family members and ended up being a party of ten. Everyone had a great time and really enjoyed seeing one another. For starters we ordered Shrimp Fondue, a Texas Onion Blossom and a dozen of raw oysters. A few of us got Bloody Mary's and Margaritas. The others had water, beer and fountain drinks. For the entrée we ordered two 40 piece botanas for everyone to share, which includes fish, shrimp, oysters and chicken (fried) in any combination of choice along with a side of french fries. For everything the total damage ended up being $326.64, which considering all that was ordered I felt was very reasonable. The only complaint was that they seemed to be very understaffed which ultimately effecting the service and experience. Overall we had a good time, the food was great and my wife enjoyed her birthday dinner.

I would give a negative star if I could. Had the most horrible experience with management on my mothers bday. I love coming to dirty Al’s and believe me when I say it come here alot. Never had any issues till I decided to come with a bigger party. Granted only four people eat one which was a teen and the rest were under two. Mandatory 20% tip when the service was not all that great. We had for an extra side of Mayo and were brought four or five ask for a side of buffalo was brought several. Didn’t think much of it till we received our bill. My wife the person who wanted the extra side of Mayo one side. But was charge 5 sides of Mayo. Also asked for buffalo was charged for four. Ask for limes since there was maybe three in a botana for four people tray. Guess what charged extra for that. Never in all the times I’ve gone there have I been charged for Mayo or buffalo or extra anything. And again was never told it would be extra. Well come the bill there was over 10 dollars in extra condiment charges we didn’t ask for and wheee all left on the table. If that wasn’t enough ask to speak to a manager (gaby). Never met someone so rude that left me talk and her talking under Meath her breath as she left. Walking out with my family she was still talking about us to her bar tender and staring us down. We paid 150 for the meal you would think they treat you with respect. I will be calling corp as well as I had to get the number for joe Rivas from the island location because when I asked for it. Gaby kept repeating herself like a broken record to contact the GM mr hernandez and she would not be given us the number to corp she said. Over all she has no reason to be in the restaurant business. I truly hope they get rid of her. I feel like I was robbed at a restaurant I know a little extreme but truly how it felt as she force us to pay and only took the tip off 21 dollars as I had already given the waiter the 20 for sub par service to say the least. Horrible place to go if this what they do to...

Not impressed! We had read several reviews on trip advisor that praised this restaurant. Looking back, most of them were older reviews. I was really looking forward to a big bowl of shrimp or seafood gumbo which had been mentioned favorably in several reviews. On entering we spotted a lady working behind the bar and another sweeping the floor. We stood inside the entrance for some time without being acknowledged and finally decided to seat ourselves. The one employee kept right on sweeping and the the lady behind the bar never even glanced our direction. Finally my wife interrupted the sweeper and inquired how the system worked. Do we get menus? Do we order at the bar? "We've never been here". The sweeper indicated she would be our waitress and would be with us as soon as she finished sweeping! Really?! We were finally given very skimpy menus that did not show many of the items I had seen mentioned in the reviews. When I inquired about this I was told they had scaled back their menu because of the pandemic. Gumbo was one of many items that was axed! We should have walked out then! She suggested "Freddy's Mix". A combination of bolied shrimp, snow crab legs, sausage, potatoes, and corn. You could upgrade to King Crab for an additional five dollars. And we did. When the food arrived it was at best lackluster and the portions were rather small for the $50 charge. Service was adequate but nothing to rave about. And overall the whole experience was very disappointing. I'd be hard pressed to recommend this eatery. And certainly won't...

If I could leave 0 stars I would! I'm so disappointed in the management at this place (Gabby). We were there to celebrate the passing of my final exams in nursing school and were really looking forward to good drinks and great food. We had a nice, but new waiter and everything started getting screwed up from the get go. Appetizers were wrong. Had to wait for utensils/plates/napkins. Actually had to get up to ask another waiter for them. Then the food came out and my daughters order of blackened fish was deep fried. So that's when Gabby stepped in literally ARGUING with me for a few minutes that there was no way they could blacken it without using butter (my daughter needs dairy free). She refused to ask the chef just kept telling me no even cutting me off when I was trying to explain that they for sure have oil in the kitchen. So frustrating 😫 😑 😤! Finally she went back to kitchen and guess what, chef said no problem on the oil. My daughter had to wait another 20 mins for her food...by then we were just over it. Spent over $100 just to deal with bad service and HORRIBLE manager named Gabby. Also when waiter picked up our empty oysters tray he spilled the water out of it onto floor and my sandals 🤢 not his fault but gross! Never got refills just all together a huge waste of $$ Ughhh I so wish we would've gone to surfing crab instead. And turns they charged me for calamari that we never ordered...never even mentioned! They brought it out then took it back but didn't take it off my bill. Don't...
