Space Dog Station — Restaurant in Brownsville

Hamburger Tattoo needs an attitude adjustment. I was really excited to try these hot dogs and I really wish my experience had been better. When we first arrived the order window was closed and we stood there for a while thinking they were closed, checked the hours and they should have been open, I finally called the phone number listed and when I asked if they were open they said they were and I informed them I was outside of the establishment and wanted to order. A woman finally opened the ordering window and what do you know?! There were two people in there, they were clearly able to see we were outside waiting to order but even after the phone call they took a long while to acknowledge us. Neither work was very friendly, when asking about certain items on the menu we felt like we were bothering the two women that obviously did not want to be there. Place our order for 4 different items and it took a really long time to get our order, we checked several time just to let them know we were still there just parked in the car on the side of the establishment, again we were treated like we were bothersome. When we finally received our order it was cold. Almost as if they were holding the order out of spite. I wanted to cancel the order just before they handed it to us but I decided not to because I really wanted to try them. With everything that happened I was really disappointed. I cannot remember the name of the woman that helped us but she had a little tattoo of a hamburger on her arm. Hopefully she sees this and her and her coworker get a better attitude. I can't imagine how much business this place is losing due to terrible service from these two women. This place was awesome! I've been reviewing the places I eat at for many years. Rarely have I ever given 5 stars because to me that means perfect, but we can all fall short a little. Typically I give 4 stars when I really like the place and will return..... But in my opinion Space Dog Station needed a 5 star from me. It was great and I will definitely be back. I don't live in Brownsville but I was downtown and was looking on maps to find something different. Found it, Space Dog Station! They have a great variety of hotdogs and they have burgers and other menu items as well. I wanted something different so that's what I got... The pizza dog! Never had I seen that before so I got it. Hotdog with marinara sauce, mozzarella, and pepperoni. 👌🏼😋💯. Everything about that hotdog was great. The hotdog itself was not a wimpy Oscar Mayer wiener. I'm not sure if it was beef, pork, both, but it was tasty and hardy in size. The bun was nicely toasted and not a straight out of the bag bun like other hotdog places I've been. They had chips, seasoned fries and tater tots. I got the tots and they were cooked perfectly and a nice size serving.

The young lady working there was very nice and friendly. I'm a gringo living in the valley but I don't know much Spanish so sometimes it can be challenging to order food at smaller local places. I don't mind at all because I'm used to it. I was expecting it to be this way ordering my food, because it's only a block from the border. The young lady spoke great English which is nice because I get embarrassed trying to order food with my gringo broken Spanish lol.

We came back, and this time, we tried the cheese burgers and wow so fresh that im hooked. i dont want your common burger joints and everything cold vs. Here nice hot, juicy handmade cheese burgers. Food is awesome. Was so happy with my irder and the staff is super nice and thanks to my cook burgers were delish!.

The hot dogs are like, "Wow, a bit pricey, but omg, you won't regret it because they are not even shysty with the serving. I was really satisfied with my combo very delicious and tasty way different from your everyday big branch dogs that they've become so bland. This hot dog stand is very creative, and i can't wait to try most of them. Plus, they do have burgers, and if hot dogs are great, i can imagine hamburgers are awesome. Tho i do say abt parking is very inconvenient Ok this is a little Ho-jo it is really nice the only thing is the location isn't very convenient for people who are driving out there. It's more convenient for people who are already downtown walking vs. With a car to find parking is horrible you can't park behind this stand because you will get sited, so that is a issue with that it's like a snack bar and no parking space so you can't really get down to order you literally have to have 2 people driver and passenger so they can order meanwhile cruise to pick them up again. I just feel they got short-changed with parking. Or should allow them to have parking privileges behind them for customers. The city should help them with that.
