I really like la Torta Cubana, still pending to try rest and I will for sure. I am not going to describe each individual ingredient and say if it was seasoned just right or bla bla bla. Instead, compared to other Tortas from Brownsville I think this is one of the better if not the best. I have tried Tortas at Sunrise Mall, La Vaquita, Lola's Bristro and Super Cream and now The City Tortas. The last two are my top favorites. I have also tried LaTorta Loca in Matamoros, which used be my favorite Tortas. I have also tried Delicias Tortas y Paletas, Las Tortas in McAllen. Also Tortas las Llarda in the Huston area, Tortas el Tigre in Rioverde, San Luis Potosi. The point is, you have to trie this place.
I am not sure about the service, I do not pay attention to that as I was there for the Tortas only, not the ambiance bla bla bla.
My wife is more discerning/food snub than me and she really like them too. She also really like the fries, as they are not frozen, freshly made etc etc. I like the fries too, but I pretty much like all fries the same. I do not split hairs when it comes to fries from McDonal's, Whataburger, Dirty Al's.
P.S. the best Pizza in Brownsville in not in an actual restaurant and it is not a fancy or expensive Pizza. The oil is used minimally as it does not drip from the slices like all other joints, I don't have to ask to go light on the sauce like most other places. I was VERY surprised when I finally tried Pizza at La Pulga/The Flea Market, the best Pizza in town.
I could go on on about the better places for Carnitas, Brisket, Mexican pastries but I think one or few of my coworkers will read this and will right away know...
Read moreFirst time visiting and I loved it! The location is super clean and the staff is very polite/friendly. I ordered to go and only waited 15 mins for my order to be ready. The food was really flavorful— I got the Perro Special, the Torta Matamoros and the Dallas torta. The Perro special was delicious, a 10/10. The torta Matamoros was my second favorite. I feel like the Dallas torta was also good, but seems to be missing something. Would love to see other type of salsas though— maybe a green salsa. Overall, I had a good experience and would...
