The servers were wonderful, and hard working. We had Molly, and she was the highlight of our meal with her upbeat, bubbly personality, and sense of humor. We watched her handling multiple tables, like a pro, with an equal amount of positivity, and the table of tourists next to us really enjoyed chatting her up about the menu, etc.
Will we go back though.... He'll NO. The fried haddock (and portion size) was just "ok," and the ,*small number of clearly frozen, chalky, dry, french fries and tasteless coleslaw with a watery, mayo dressing were much to be desired, especially for the cost of the food. I chose the seafood combo of scallops and clams, with onion rings (I changed my fries to rings after she took our order). We were told the price upcharge for my choices, but she said that it came with a generous pile of clams/scollops, so I was ok with it. Unfortunately, my order only came with 2, slightly undercooked scallops, 1 little one, and 2 halfs. (Total 3 scallops) and 6 tiny clams, two of which tasted and smelled bad. The coating was crumbly, thin and very greasy. And, I received the chalky fries instead of onion rings, and no tarter sauce, when we both stressed extra sauce with our meals. That said, a helper brought out our food. Molly came by a couple of minutes later with an order of onion rings, and quickly delivered our tarter sauce. She explained that the rings had to come out on the side because of how the order system works (because I'd changed from fries to rings), but that wasn't a problem. The problem is that the onion rings were a greasey mess, and had a funny, seafood odor and taste (old cooking oil?). Really nasty. I/we seriously wouldn't have eaten any had we not been so darn hungry, but we did eat a bunch, and now I'm at home with nausea and Montazuma's Revenge - an hour or so after eating. [Hubby's stomach seems OK so far, but being hungry, he ate the dry fries on both of our plates because of the small portions, and I think they helped absorb the grease.] Clearly, the cooking oil was too old and wasn't at the appropriate temperature for frying. We were really surprised at how fast our food came out (ridiculously fast - maybe 5 mins, tops!). It's much more important to cook the food fresh and appropriately.
Note: We didn't complain to Molly about the food. She was busy and we were tired after a long day, and just wanted to get out of there and go home. -Sigh- It just isn't worth going out to eat any more. Prices are crazy high, portions are small, and quality is poor. Honestly. ...
Read moreI had a cup of Clam Chowder and I ordered a medium well Cheeseburger on a toasted GF bun with French fries and Cole Slaw. The Chowder was $9.00 and the Cheeseburger was $16.00. I got there just after they opened on 5/30. Service was very slow, they brought the chowder first and 2o minutes later the cheeseburger. The cheeseburger was browned on each side but then it was raw. The bun wasn't toasted. I ate half the burger but just couldn't choke down the other half. I'd have sent it back but the waitress didn't stop back over. She finally showed up. I ate half the fries, the slaw was almost bitter and the roll wasn't grilled and I let her know and showed her the raw burger. I got up to use the bathroom and instead of sitting back and down, I stood and waited for the check. 15 minutes later I went and sat in the RAV and my friend waited for the check. The waitress took off 2.40 for the burger being raw. Seriously? She figured half a burger was $2.40? I will never go back and up till now, I was so happy with Pepper's Landing. I have a hip problem and I came in with a cane, yet I waited 15 min for the check standing and it was another 5 min before she brought it out to my friend. The restaurant was not even busy. I'm talking a RAW burger and that's all she took off. I was very dissapoonted and I won't...
Read moreMixed bag. For a seafood restaurant, what is most important was done well. Every else was strange to terrible. Calamari, Baked Haddock, Cesar Salad, Tuna, scallops and shrimp were all cooked properly. Seafood was good. However, the pomegranate-jalapeno margarita was so awful it reasonably should have been returned. So sour and unpleasantness it was like drinking red colored pickle brine. I'm not kidding. The clam chowder was also so sour it tasted like it had gone bad. Sour chowder??? Is that on purpose?? The sweet&sour seafood sauce AGAIN, was so sour it was as if it had been finished with a cup of cider vinegar thrown on top. Lobster bisque had one large piece of lobster. It was a claw, but that was the ONLY piece of meat. Bisque was also slightly sour. Crazy flavor profiles with the sauces and drinks. It was as if the head taster was missing his/her sour taste buds. The wait person was good and attentive. Would have loved to give a higher rating but all the high acid, sour flavorings in unexpected and irrational intensities really did ruin the experience. I would try it again just to see if our experience was normal, or if it was a random off night. Not sure if others in my party...
