BEWARE! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!! First I will start by saying that we chose this place to start our adoption journey here because of all the wonderful reviews. Upon arriving I will say the place was immaculate and really really cute. The concept was also great and they give you a great atmosphere to spend some time with the cats that are there that day and to try to get to know some of them and hopefully find one or more that you are interested in adopting. We chose a cat that was a two for one deal as in in order to take him you need to take his friend because they were bonded which was totally fine because We fell in love with both of them and were really really excited to start the process. We basically didn't even look or interact with any more of the cats because we were set on these guys. We were not told that there were any other applications pending for them and that the process will take about three days. We were also informed that they worked with different shelters and we're given the name and Information of the shelter That our guys were coming from. So we filled the application out that night and patiently waited. My little boy was so excited and asked me every single day when will they be coming home. Well this is when the nightmare began… The first email that I received from the shelter, after I reached out to them personally since I had not received a response that they had even received the application, was just to tell me that since I had rehomed a cat in the past I should know that the one cat was shy. Even though I had gone into great detail about my previous experience because I felt it was important to be 100% honest I feel that I was immediately discounted for that. However instead of just telling me then they allowed us to go on for another week and in the middle of the wek, throwing in that somebody else had applied for the cats before us which we were never ever told until that day which is several days after we initially applied. And even then we were still given no answers and ignored. Until I finally reached out again, this time a bit angry since I was initially told this was a 3 day process, I was immediately emailed a response stating that the other family would be getting the cats and that they have real lives and families and jobs and that basically I wasn't their first priority and if i wasn't happy I should take it up with the meow cafe. UNBELIEVABLE . This entire process was a scam and one that broke my little boys heart. ADDENDUM I was asked to remove my 1 star review due to my anger being misplaced, as most if it is geared towards Eliannie's Animal Rescue Shelter. Where i do think that place is garbage with garbage people running it, at the end of the day, they aren't the ones who gladly took my money and grossly mislead me and my family into believing something that just wasn't true. I stand firm in stating that I believe this place to be a scam. As I clearly understand ghat the cafe can not guarantee any adoptions, I did not expect to be lied to and mislead regarding the process but that is exactly...
Read moreThe MeWow Cafe is very cute at first glance, the trinkets are adorable and the vibe seems nice at first, but I’m not too sure if the people who work there truly care for or understand the cats. My boyfriend and I went and made a reservation for the cat room, and for the size of the room, there should have been absolutely no more than 4 people in there with the cats. The time that we booked for, there at one point had been 7 people in there. One of the staff was very clearly trying to get the cats to “perform” almost for the people that were in there and was constantly waking up the sleeping cats and not seeming to respect their boundaries at all.
The most jarring part was when she had basically dumped one of the cats out of their sleeping/hiding spot and part of the fixture fell onto another cat, both scurrying away. She then went into the spot she told everyone that the cats go to when they are overwhelmed and dragged them back out, once again trying to almost make them perform. My boyfriend and I had ended up leaving early due to not wanting to stand by for it any longer.
The staff truly need to start understanding the cats that they are caring for, and possibly keeping an eye on the room, not to make them perform but to make sure other patrons respect the cats as well. This wasn’t my boyfriend’s and my first time at a cat cafe so this was rather jarring in comparison where they had very clear lines and boundaries...
Read moreOverall a disappointing experience. While it wasn’t the cats fault at all, the customer service experience was less then great. The description of reservations on the website is not clear for cuddles with cats or playful cats. It is not clear that there are two different sections/rooms in the cafe, one for kittens and one for older cats. Obviously cats come and go as they are adopted and kittens may not always be available but that should be more clear on the website. We asked when we arrived if we could switch our reservation from cuddle cats to playful cats seeing that was the kitten section when we arrived and were told no even though no one was in there at the time and for some time after. I believe they could have atleast let us go to see the kittens even for a few minutes since we had a 55 minute reservation for cuddle cats and a few minutes could have been spared. I have been to many cats cafes across the country and this one by far had a very strong smell and the worst smell overall. The manager did tell us they just moved locations and maybe things will work themselves out but from this experience alone we would not return as it is quite expensive to be this disappointed for a 55...
